Blake Jarwin, TE, Dallas Cowboys - Dynasty, Keeper, and Redraft Value

Postby turcorox911 » Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:00 pm

Jarwin might be the TE going forward for the Cowboys, so what kind of value do you think he has in dynasty, redraft, and keeper leagues?

Probably in the running for TE1 after that breakout game.

Turco thread and all, I know, but I'll entertain.

Disclaimer 1: I think Jarwin won't become a thing and just had the fluke game of his career.

With that said, I'd value him at a late 2nd in dynasty.

If I'm a TE-needy team I'd even throw a 2.08ish range pick at his owner and see if I can make a deal praying he does become a thing.

Disclaimer 2: I'd probably throw the Gesicki owner the same deal first.

He's gotten targets the last few weeks. My concerns long term would be:

1. It's one of the run heaviest systems in the league, so continued high volume targets could be an issue

2. I'd expect him to remain above Geoff Swaim, but Swaim will return next year to muddy up the snap share.

3. He has a pretty pedestrian athletic profile

All that said, he could still be a low end TE1, bc why not. There's 10+ guys who fit that bill

I mean, Larry Donnel for the Giants had that random 3 TD game a couple years back.

I don't see anything here. I saw his stats that game and looked at his previous stats and dismissed it as a fluke. This stuff happens. Not enough info to suggest a trend.

If anyone wants to see if this is something I'm sure the playoffs will provide more answers.

1. It doesn't take much to be relevant at TE
2. Who? Yes, I'm aware of who he is but he's still a nobody.
3. He has the same dimensions and athleticism as Hunter Henry, if not a little more explosive.

Nice body control on that 3rd TD catch and I think he has nice routes and acceleration. Obviously 3 TDs is a fluke and some poor defensive effort mixed in as well. He will be a player to watch if Dallas can make a run in the playoffs.

Outside of Ertz, Kelce & Kittle, TE is a complete crap shoot. Jarwin is one of the cheaper options in that crap shoot to take a shot on.

That's fair. I like Hunter Henry and Delanie Walker when both are out there. OJ Howard was huge this year, and I like what Njoku and Engram have shown so far.

Jarwin had been trending upward before the game though I think. Not sure what the stats say, but as a Cowboys fan, I definitely noticed him on the field more and think he saw a nice upswing in targets and receptions.
