He's been a little flukey unlucky with the TDs this year. He's generally an ~8TD/yr guy but this year has caught some bad breaks in the endzone. If I recall in one game alone he had a play where they were inside the 5 and he was completely uncovered standing alone in the endzone and Goff went to float the ball to him and it got batted down at the LoS, and then later in the same game he scored on a play that they ruled him down at the 1 but LA didn't bother reviewing it because it was 1st and goal from the 1 anyway and they just scored on the next play.

He also had a TD taken off the board with a very questionable review.

I likewise think it's silly to assume we've seen his ceiling. Obviously an extreme example but at age 25 people still considered Antonio Brown an undersized fantasy WR2 on a good offense.

I have Cooks as my WR2 behind OBJ and he's obviously great there, but I'm considering moving OBJ in the offseason for an elite RB and I would still be comfortable with Cooks as my WR1 at that point.

Right now I’m comfortable as him as my WR2/3 in a 12 team 1QB. His lack of TDs has hampered my unwavering faith in him, but overall a good WR that is still 5 years away from even the consideration of moving on from him barring epic collapse

The lack of targets is frustrating. Is he really not open? Obviously lots of options in that offense. Just watch Red Zone, so dont get to watch much of the Rams.

He is what he is. His stats, outside TDs, have been remarkably consistent over four years with three different teams. 70-80 catches, 1100 something yards and variable TDs. He’s a good #2.

Can we stop pretending he's not largely responsible for his success now, or are we going to heap all the credit to McVeigh this time? It's Brees, it's Brady, etc. No, it's Cooks. He's good, they took advantage of that, just like Goff and the Rams did.

Exactly this. 80/1200/5 is better than i projected. At 25 years old, i couldn't be happier.

Brandin Cooks: It's time to be concerned.

Postby FantasyFreak » Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:52 pm

I was one who was on board with the move to the Rams, and he looked great last year. This year, the entire offense has regressed, and Cooks has been the receiver that has suffered the most by Goff's regression, and the lack of running game.

The bigger concern, however is his health. Cooks has now had 4 concussions in less than 2 years, and 2 inside a month. It's the 5th concussion of his career. He is now being sent to a specialist. I don't think he will see the field for some time, and the reality is that it is very possible that Brandin Cooks has played his last football game.

I hope for the best for him, whether it's playing football or not. He's always seemed like a very humble, good hearted person.

Yeah it's sad to see. Concussions can derail the careers of players in a flash who should be in their prime. With players being more aware of the long term risks early retirement is going to start becoming more normal. I think we, as a dynasty community, don't take concussion risk into valuations enough. One bad concussion, or multiple in a season should be seen as a big red flag for longevity. Sterling Sheppard comes to mind as a guy you might want to move on from once he gets healthy and regains his value.

I hope Cooks can make his way back. Even if he hasn't been the fantasy asset he was in the past, he is still an exciting game breaker when on the field. One of the few WRs in recent memory that could hop between teams and perform at a high level year in and year out.

I believe Kelce had 2 last year, and Hopkins has had 3 in his career. I had the same thought about Shepard.

funnily enough mcvay said that cooks is asymptomatic. so he's not feeling the after effects but he seems to get concussed pretty easily.

his problem is he ducks his head when contact is near. this brings the defender's helmet into play on his helmet. a natural reaction but he's getting concussed too many times. he has to change this habit if he wants to continue playing.

I own shares in almost every league.
Just traded him in non ppr: Gave Cooks, Parker, Vance McD Received DFreeman, Agholor, Winston. Pretty sure I "lost" in trade but won't matter if Cooks is on his last breath of his career.

Another trade I just sent over:
Give Cooks
Get Mike Williams and pick 13 (0-8 team so pretty sure of the pick I'm getting)
Probably won't go through but it's time to try and move Cooks.
