Week XVI Discussion (Championship Week)

Postby jomaed » Tue Dec 18, 2018 10:21 am

Congrats and good luck to all who made it to championship week!

Lot of storylines heading into the week. I am most interested in the wildcard races. Team like Indy, Tennessee, Minnesota need to avoid upstes while teams like Blatimore and Pittsburgh are hoping win as road dogs. Foles leading Philly to 3 straight wins and sneaking into the playoffs could still happen as well.

Fantasy wise, I am hoping everyone that has that been battling injuries or has concerns heading into the week end up playing. To me, matchups are always more exciting when the best players are invloved (I know i lot of owners who played Williams, Jackson, Samuels etc last week would disagree haha).

I can't wait to get through this week at work and make it to the weekend. I'm in the finals in 4 of my 5 leagues - including two that I've made it to for the first time ever. Plus, the Hawks-Chiefs game on SNF is going to be awesome!

Has Henry mad it to must-start territory for this week over let's say the likes of Nick Chubb or Brandin Cooks? Too aggressive? Good matchup at home, obviously the hot hand right now.

Maybe not must-start, but probably-should-start. It'd be hard not to right now.

This is also one of my biggest questions. Strongly considering going with the hot hand and playing him over DJ.

Really hoping OBJ plays, I don't want to wish ill on a person but also would enjoy Ware being out so that I can roll Damien Williams. If ware is in, then deciding between Ingram, Tevin Coleman, and Williams as my RB3 could decide my matchup

Also Vikings vs Lions at D or Patriots vs the Bills for a juicy matchup

I made the championship in all 3 of my 3 leagues, which will probably never happen again

I think you have to start whoever you'd regret sitting the most if they blow up. If Henry scores 6 points while DJ gets 30 on your bench, will you regret it more than if the roles are reversed? That's what I always ask myself.

The NFL seems very wide open right now. I still think the Saints are the best team in football but they are not the juggernaut of a few weeks ago. We may see them return to juggernaut status if they get the overall #1 seed and get to play everyone in the dome but as of now it seems like they can be beaten. The AFC is even more wide open, I don't trust Mahomes or Reid in the playoffs yet, Pats suck, Rivers is a hall of famer but can be mistake prone, etc. Could be a crazy post season with some upsets we didn't expect. As far as fantasy goes I will love it if Henry wins people some championships since it will be the most unlikely scenario ever. Also exciting to see how the young players and rookies end their seasons from a fantasy perspective and who becomes buy lows or sell highs.

Exactly what I said when I should have lost this past weekend. I may have joked about starting Henry over Barkley, but seriously considered over Chubb @ Denver. This week, i think i will feel worse if I bench Henry, seriously. Even if he puts up a dud, it feels like the move that makes the most sense, this week.

And the week starts off with moving Aaron Jones to the IR and basically making Leonard Fournette more of a flex play since the Jags apparently want to get a look at an undrafted rookie RB. On top of that, the Rams signed CJ Anderson...which really makes me question if Gurley will be available this weekend. Tough start to the week if you own these guys.

I dont see why they would play Gurley at all this week or next, unless they think AZ could upset them. Anything can happen, but if you are not confident in your team to beat AZ at this juncture, you have bigger problems. I know Home Field and such is still in play, but you want your best player healthy in the playoffs. Whether we like it or not.

Not that I am in any such leagues this season - but just to note that I for one would have no issues being in a league where Championship week was Week XVII.

Regardless good luck to all teams playing for the title this week!

First time ever I am in the 'ship in both my leagues in the same year..

Great timing for Gordon to come back.
I also needed a flex so the Jones injury works out well because I have Williams.

I have some overlapping assets, namely Gordon, MT & Evans - here is hoping for some big games..

I'm legit scared to start Gurley this eek. I would think there's a strong chance he's a decoy if he's active, or he is active on emergency basis only.

Me too. If he does play, I fear it will only be the first half since the Cards are so bad. I’m lucky enough to have four good RBs and we can only start three. Gonna sit him for Barkley, Kamara and Zeke.
