I imagine that shortens the transition from college to NFL for QBs.

No idea how this will impact Julio, but I actually like it for Freeman. When Koetter has been an OC, he has shown that he will feed an RB heavy volume if they are the only option, or are obvs the best talent on the team (esp if they are the hammer and the pass catcher - check Freeman). And even if he does use a committee, his top RB usually gets about 200 carries and 40-30 targets. Pretty solid floor with a high ceiling if Freeman performs the way he has in the past.

Here’s hoping Koetter uses Freeman like he used MJD/Dmart when they were the top dogs in the past:

2009: MJD 16 games, 312 rush attempts, 71 targets
2010: MJD 14 games, 299 rush attempts, 43 targets
2011: MJD 16 games, 343 rush attempts, 64 targets
2015: Dmart 16 games, 288 rush attempts, 44 targets

It appears Koetter isn’t afraid to give a guy heavy volume, and there is no reason to think that Freeman won’t get that, as he’s the main show in town.

Good points, Johnny. Building off that, when Koetter was OC in Atlanta from 2012-14, Burner Turner and SJax were the team's leading rushers and got about 65-70% of the carries despite averaging between 3.5 and 3.9 yards per rush. Peyton Barber wasn't an elite talent but he led the Bucs in rushing this past year.

Seems Koetter commits to a primary back, regardless of efficiency. Freeman's rushing efficiency does concern me.

What kind of coach is he ?
The kind of coach that were I cardinals fan it would be time to burn all my gear cancel my season tickets& find a new team kind of coach.

He had a losing record 4 of his 6 years in lubbock and in fact had more losings seasons in his 6 years than Texas Tech had in the previous 27 seasons combined. Despite having 3 qbs that were drafted - two 1st rounders & another 3rd rounder as well as a rb a te and several wr and a few other non offensive positional guys that made NFL rosters. He will be an unmitigated disaster and will be easily the worst hire among this years coaching hires.

I actually really like this for Denver. Curious who Chicago gets at DC since Bowles turned them down.

Not sure what this will mean for the RBs. It’s often hard to project who will do well in an outside zone. I certainly don’t see this as a good thing for Keenum.

Peyton Manning continues to get this guy HC jobs somehow.

In his defense there wasnt much he could do with the trio of Tannehill, Cutler and Osweiler. Having said that I want nothing to do with that backfield now. Yikes.

I think Gase is actually a pretty good coach offensively. He never really had much to work with at QB or elsewhere. I've always thought Tannehill was a franchise quarterback, but he's near the bottom of the list, and he's probably been injured for half of Gase's tenure.

Covered the Dolphins beat since Gase got hired. Seems like a strong offensive mind, hard to tell whether the team's failings fall more on him or on chance things. I don't know who could've done better with Tannehill, they should've cut and run on him long ago. Also worth noting that ownership in Miami is shoddy at best.

That said, I wouldn't want Gase to coach my favorite team. The constant stories of drama surrounding the Dolphins haven't sat well with me, Gase seems like a real "my way or the highway" type coach.
