League Winner Quit the League... What to do?

Postby Lambeau Connection » Wed Dec 12, 2018 6:16 am

A league that I play in recently found out that by far the best team's owner quit due him feeling offended by someone in the league's remarks about the Kareem Hunt ordeal. Not getting into that... but the commish does not want to just hand over the team to someone who should win the league for the next 3 years.(it is disgusting how good his team is).

What are some options for the league to do for the following situations?

-Some have expressed interest in moving to 12 team league(It is currently a 10 teamer)
-Some want to keep it at 10 teams.
-Any other suggestions?

Thank you,

-Craig

Get a new owner, release all of his players, have a dispersal draft. Or a dispersal + rookie draft.

This would make the new guy's team a real bad one though. Why not just let someone else take over? The team was built fair & square, right?
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Can see not wanting to give a new owner a league winning team. If there isn’t anyone else leaving, you could give everyone the option to throw back their team and have a dispersal draft.

Dispersal draft -- with the new owner.

All the departed team's players and picks are in the dispersal draft. Any other owner who wants to join may -- it is an option, not an obligation. Then, all the owners who join in have a draft with their players and picks and with all the players and picks from departed team.

Yes, but this new owner would be left with absolutely nothing. Not really sure that we could find anyone to take over the bleep team.

In a dispersal he wouldn't be left with nothing, he would still be getting some of his original players and picks back, all depends how many other owners are in it and what their teams are. As for expanding to 12 teams you would almost certainly have to just reboot the league from scratch to do that, it would give far too big an advantage to the existing owners as it's far easier to accrue elite talent in a 10 team vs a 12 team league.

He would be a participant in the dispersal draft. He has equal opportunity to be as good as any other team in that dispersal draft...and if no teams elect to enter the dispersal, he'll be as good as the original team being dispersed...as they will all just go right back to him.

I believe OP is thinking we are suggesting to only disperse the orphan teams assets between multiple teams. No, teams 1-9 all have an option to throw their team into the dispersal draft (with team 10s players already there) and start over with that pool of players.

Team 1 has a good team and elects not to participate in dispersal
Team 2 is stuck with Mariota, Henry, and Corey Davis (sorry TEN fans) and decides to throw those players back to have a chance at drafting some of team 10s stacked roster

If team 10 is that stacked then there should be about 3 or 4 teams that will easily participate in a dispersal

Or just give me the team. I'll take care of it :D

You should post the roster for fun too

Stacked teams can rapidly crumble. This is probably a needless fiasco...but I'd just do the dispersal option to keep everyone happy.

Agreed. Post the roster of this "super team", I bet we can find a bunch of potential flaws and areas of potential decline.

You either let a new owner take over or do a whole new startup. As for going from 10 to 12, you basically put that to a vote and let the league decide. If you do, then you definitely do a new startup.

Disposal but you cant pick and choose which players to put into the player pool. Its the owners entire squad or they dont participate. Cant throw in your scrubs and hope to get the first pick and get a stud. Thats pointless.

Could always do a draft that is similar to a redraft keeper.

Each team gets to protect a specific amount of players, and everyone else is thrown into the draft.

For example: everyone gets to protect 1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 1Flex, and one rookie from 2018.

That way ppl still retain the core that they've been using. IMO the history of the league, draft picks, and good/bad roster management shouldn't just wash away because the best teams players are suddenly available and the vultures are out.

OR

Just let a new owner take over the superteam, they never last as long as ppl think. This is also the easiest way to get someone to take over an orphan.
