League deadline advice help please

I am in a young dynasty league with friends, we are running into some disagreement because we have had no trade deadline. With playoffs approaching moves are being made and people are not happy as playoffs teams get stronger. What is typical for a trade deadline in dynasty?

I like to have the deadline a couple weeks before the playoffs start. I am shocked at how many leagues here are still making trades into the playoffs.

Either there is one a few weeks before playoffs or there is none at all. Trading all year in dynasty should not be an issue.

Let me guess, the teams complaining that playoff teams are getting stronger are the ones they are competing against? Those same owners could be looking for deals also. As long as there's no colluaion, it makes a lot of sense for competitors and rebuilders to trade with each other

I am in leagues that had deadlines starting as early as Week X and as late as Week XIV, and a couple that have no trade deadline. The only issue with no trade deadline leagues is if it is a $ dynasty league - you need to make sure the owners are paid up for 2019 - but if it is a free or friends & family league I have absolutely no issues with no trade deadline. The main reasons for trade deadlines, imho, is to avoid appearance of collusion, and, in dynasty leagues, to ensure owners cannot totally destroy a team for a 1 year shot and then bail if it fails.

Anyways because no trade deadline has been listed you'll obviously either need to go with no trade deadline this year, or get the vast majority (I'd want at least 75%) to agree to a specific deadline asap.

My dynasty deadline was the Tuesday after week 12 with playoffs starting in week 14. I like having that 1 full week before playoffs with no trading and certainly there shouldn't be trades during the playoffs. I like the idea of a bit of stability while the playoff games are occurring. Then, the second the championship game is over, trading should be reopened.

In my main $ league we can trade all the way up to the playoffs. Once the playoffs start trading is locked and gets reopened once the playoffs are over.

Thanks for the replies. @jugga94, you are correct people are complaining because I made a trade giving up some future talent to strengthen my position for the playoffs. Ours start week 15. I don’t mind open trading all year long as it is an opportunity for weak teams to trade with contenders to strengthen for the next year. Right now trading will stay open but we will need to address in the off-season and was wondering how other dynasty leagues run.
