I feel your pain. I have been the #1 seed most of the year. Falling to the 2nd seed for the playoffs. I'm currently on bye this week. But I have lost AJG, E Sanders, Doyle, M Jones and Jimmy G. About to get slaughtered in the playoffs next week and miss out on any money. While having to start I McKenzie, C Samuel and A Callaway and LaCosse as replacements.slaughterrt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 5:46 pm Lost AJG and Sanders for the year on one of my playoff teams.
Oh boy.
Starting Funchess and Josh Reynolds now.
Oh boy.
E. Sanders traded to the 49ers

Re: Emmanuel Sanders - Torn Achilles
I suspect he'll still finish out his contract next year on Denver, perhaps starting out on the PUP. Steve Smith came back his last season in the league to record 700+ yards off a mid-season achilles tear so I don't think we can say right now he's completely done but his effectiveness will certainly be diminished. He's very likely done as a fantasy starter and he'll probably be looking at low money 1 year offers in free agency if he chooses to continue on in 2020.
Re: Emmanuel Sanders - Torn Achilles
Due to the timing of his injury, it is more likely that he misses most of, if not all of next years regular season.

Is he still worth a roster spot at this point with so much uncertainty?

Depends who you would be dropping for. I doubt many dynasty leagues have better WW optionsslaughterrt wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 6:19 pm Is he still worth a roster spot at this point with so much uncertainty?

Not surprising. Torn Achilles is a long recovery. Donta Foreman has been out more than a year.
It would be sad for Emmanuel Sanders to end his career this way.

Manny Sanders 2019
With him being less than a year removed from a torn Achilles, is he going to even play in 2019? And if he does, what type of season do we expect?

Re: Manny Sanders 2019
Tough to say, he says he will be back well before season. Most recent example I can think of was Steve Smith in Baltimore a couple years ago. Smith came back fine but every case is different.
Re: Manny Sanders 2019
Big time disagree... he was only diagnosed in December. An achilles is not the same as an ACL, and his age only compounds it.Franky Four Fingers wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 11:02 am Tough to say, he says he will be back well before season. I would be incredibly wary of expecting anything from a 32 year old WR six months removed from an achilles tear. Every case is different, but I just waited a full season for Donta Foreman, a 22 year old RB, to regain any sort of form. These injuries linger...
Re: Manny Sanders 2019
At his age an Achilles for all intents and purposes is pretty much a career killer. I’m guessing he might play again but he won’t be fantasy relevant.
Re: Manny Sanders 2019
Smith's was a double rupture...an injury not seen before by the surgeon and it was described as having the looks of "shredded chicken". It happened in November when he was 36. He played 14 games the following season and caught 70 balls.mild wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 2:50 pmBig time disagree... he was only diagnosed in December. It really depends on the degree to which Sanders tore his achilles. I'm betting on Sanders, though. Think he's a great receiver. And leaving Denver should only help.

Re: Manny Sanders 2019
x2 best-case scenario for Sanders is a Michael Crabtree-like trajectory. If I had to guess, Sanders maybe plays a couple of games toward the end of 2019, if that. The more likely scenario is that he returns in 2020 as a secondary WR or just a veteran presence.

Re: Manny Sanders 2019
Average people (not athletes, just people in general) usually return to "full activity" in 4-6 months from a surgically repaired Achilles tears. However, Smith was still an outlier for an Achilles injury in the NFL, definitely not the norm. The average recovery time in the NFL has been around 11 months, though 28% of the injuries end up career ending (based on a 2017 study). The injury tends to affect RBs and LBs hardest, and WRs have not seen too much difference in games played per season after full recovery from the injury (though the average player with injury plays about 1 less future season than typically expected).Farley wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 4:00 pmSmith's was a double rupture...an injury not seen before by the surgeon and it was described as having the looks of "shredded chicken". Obviously based on the above, the 4-6 month timetable to be able to return to normal activity levels shows that outliers like Smith are definitely possible (and might be for Sanders. Even at 6 months, that would put him at May/June). However, it appears actual "full" recovery for athletes is typically much longer (twice or more) and the most likely outcome for Sanders would be coming back sometime around November or December next year (if at all).

Re: Manny Sanders 2019
Big difference being the styles they play and the ways they win. Sanders relies on quicks and YAC. That was never Crabtree's game.WhatWouldDitkaDo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 9:37 amx2 best-case scenario for Sanders is a Michael Crabtree-like trajectory.
