Thoughts on this situation

In one of my leagues a trade almost went down. Le'Veon Bell for Derrick Henry. To be fair the Bell owner needed an RB pretty badly but the commish then informed me that the Bell owner told him the night before the trade went down that this would be his last year in the league. Once an owner states that they are leaving the league all of their transactions have to be looked at a little closer, right?

I would, you don't want a owner blowing up a team for the next owner to walk into a $h!t show lol.

Ya, I'm a very "anti-veto" guy, but this is a situation where the trade can't be allowed to go through. If the owner was staying and willing to live with the future loss of value to get a guy to help now that would be fine, but just dumping a guy for well below market value for a short term gain when he's already said he's bailing is not ok. There is no credible argument that can be made that Henry has more value in dynasty than Bell and this will severely impact the next owners team and even the ability to fill the vacancy.

If the Bell owner agrees (and pays upfront) to return next year the trade should be allowed to go through, but I guarantee he has a change of heart if he was staying.

Zero chance that he stays. Apparently he told the commish he was leaving because he felt it wasn't fair that he couldn't submit waiver requests at 11:05pm on Wednesday nights (when the deadline is 11pm. He blames the site and the commish for it. It's very very strange.

Yeah can't let that trade go through. I'm completely anti-veto when an owner has some kind of commitment to the team,. As far as I'm concerned he shouldn't be allowed to trade at all at this point if he's not picking up long term value or doing something to make the team more palatable to a new owner ex more picks

He is. He was in a league I commished and when the vast majority of the league wanted me to start the rookie draft early (by a few days) and we were all paid up he freaked out when his pick was up. Keep in mind the picks were untimed until the official day the draft was supposed to start. So his pick was OTC after the official start date and he was running out of time so I paused it and texted him that he was up and I didn't want him to get skipped. He then proceeded to berate me and said he was going to quit. I refunded his money and said good riddance. The league has gone smooth ever since.

...and to be clear I think I started the draft on a Friday before it was set to start on the following Monday and it was completely untimed until Monday. Then on Monday I put the 5 hour timer on. He lost his mind.
