The Top 12 At Each Position - Running Backs - Updated

Postby ArrylT » Mon Nov 12, 2018 2:55 pm

I am aware MNF has yet to play and there are still 2 bye weeks to deal with but with pretty much 10 weeks under wraps ...

just curious to see who thinks which player(s) will fall out of the top 12 aka QB1 / RB1 / WR1 / TE1
So peruse the lists and see who you'd remove and list who you would add.
Players in BOLD have not had a bye

Players yet to play

Giants

Saquon Barkley - Already a RB1
Odell Beckham - Already a WR1
Sterling Shepard - Would need 45 poitns today to reach WR1
Evan Engram - Would need 36 points today to reach TE1
Eli Manning - Would need 63 points today to reach QB1

49ers

George Kittle - Already a TE1
Matt Breida - Would need 42 points today to reach RB1
No WR or QB anywhere near WR1 / QB 1 range

Using standard PPR Scoring

Running Backs 1-12

Gurley - 287
Kamara - 244
Conner - 224
Hunt - 210
Gordon - 209
White - 205
McCaffrey - 203
Barkley - 203
Elliott - 180
David Johnson - 157
Yeldon - 146
Cohen - 134

Great group of 9 here at the top. Cream of the crop. All over 20 PPG. Nothing changing here...

Gurley
Kamara
Conner
Hunt
Gordon
White
McCaffrey
Barkley
Elliott

David Johnson - In his own group. I do think he is still top 12 by end of year, but it wasn't looking good before this weekend. That being said, He's got a good situation still and has a decent point lead to fend off the late comers

Yeldon - No way he stays here. Nice while it lasted, hope you cashed out if you owned him. He's a jag (figuratively and literally)
Cohen - Hmm... PPR machine but its a coin flip if hes a big part of the game plan or not. I think he stays. Barely.

Mixon - He replaces Yeldon. Only about 10 points out of 12th and that's with 2 games missed.

Chubb - If he isn't 12th and Cohen holds on, Chubb is 13th. Such a late start but hes less than 30 points back after this week.

Honorable mentions...
A. Jones - If he had a consistent workload and played a full 16, he is border top 12. This isn't the year.
Sony - similar to Chubb in earning starting role late, but also dealt with injury, impossible to make it this year but future is bright

Thats a solid take - and yeah if Chubb continues getting the usage he has been getting (which seems likely) he could easily finish top 12 - I think he is already top 10 in rushing yardage alone.

Top 10 will stick, top 9 for obvious reasons and now that DJ has a real OC he should be fine as a mid-low RB1
Yeldon will be gone for sure and Cohen I don't think will be consistent enough
Most likely guys to replace are Chubb, aaron jones(don't think he does because of lack of touches before now), Mixon(lock to end without injury), Breida if he can finish a game I think beats out Chubb honestly

Crazy that Hunt still held on... Cohen also had a great year. Don't think anyone saw that coming.

Elliott with 77 receptions might be the most shocking of all these stats.

Ironically Zeke had 2 more receptions than Amari Cooper had (75 catches) on the full year!

I think a lot of people saw that one coming actually.

There was a LOT of hype around Cohen on these boards, especially following the regime change in Chicago and them telling everyone they'd try using him more all over the field, not just as a 3rd down receiving back. Could just as well have been the usual coach speak of course, but I know I invested in Cohen pretty much everywhere based on the high praise I was reading on these boards.

I agree with Hunt though. I also think he's one of the more intriguing stories in the NFL this year. I'm honestly shocked no team picked him from waivers yet. He's obviously made some very poor choices both in his actions and in how he handled himself afterwards, but there are superstars in this league that did way worse things and were given 2nd and 3rd chances. Maybe this really is a turning point for the league? If not, and he does end up on another team, he may turn out to be the biggest buy low since Manning during the time of his neck surgeries.

It really wasn’t to me and probably not to most Cowboys fans, the lack of weapons, especially pre-Amari Cooper made it a necessity. There was a bunch of talk, last offseason, about how Zeke was going to be a big part of the passing game. I’m just glad they did it, he’s an underrated pass catcher.

Yeah... it is pretty crazy to me that living in Texas and hearing the common man talk that, that is completely not true. Most people here in Texas believed that Allen Hurns and Michael Gallup were going to be the passcatchers not Elliot, that was a big shock to a lot people.
