The Top 12 At Each Position - Quarterbacks - Updated

Postby ArrylT » Mon Nov 12, 2018 2:44 pm

I am aware MNF has yet to play and there are still 2 bye weeks to deal with but with pretty much 10 weeks under wraps ...

just curious to see who thinks which player(s) will fall out of the top 12 aka QB1 / RB1 / WR1 / TE1
So peruse the lists and see who you'd remove and list who you would add.
Players in BOLD have not had a bye

Players yet to play

Giants

Saquon Barkley - Already a RB1
Odell Beckham - Already a WR1
Sterling Shepard - Would need 45 poitns today to reach WR1
Evan Engram - Would need 36 points today to reach TE1
Eli Manning - Would need 63 points today to reach QB1

49ers

George Kittle - Already a TE1
Matt Breida - Would need 42 points today to reach RB1
No WR or QB anywhere near WR1 / QB 1 range

Using standard PPR Scoring

QBS 1-12

Mahomes - 302
Ryan - 255
Goff - 253
Roethlisberger - 248
Brees - 237
Trubisky - 236
Newton - 230
Luck - 229
Rodgers - 220
Cousins - 216
Brady - 215
Watson - 213

I guess this is using 6 pt Pass TD? Top 9 here are safe...

Mahomes
Ryan
Goff
Roethlisberger
Brees
Trubisky
Newton
Luck
Rodgers

Of the next 3, I dont think any make it as QB1 by season's end...
Cousins - Predict the Vikings collapse, or maybe Cook's comeback reduces some of these numbers

Brady - How long can he rely on Edelman and White? Sony coming back here as well and I think the Pats try and grind games out through the run game. Cruise into the playoffs

Watson - Safest bet for an injury to keep him out for a game or 2.If he plays a full 16, he is probably still a QB1

New in Top 12...
Rivers - Technically already top 12 in my league by PPG... Rivers has a defense to cap the shootouts somewhat, but this team is 1 game out of first. Let that sink in. LAC will be competitive down the stretch and Rivers will again post a borderline QB1 season.

Russell - starting to see some of his higher scoring games in 2 of the past 3 weeks. My only worry here is that they lose to GB and @CAR and are out of the playoffs by week 13

Wentz - Has 2 games to make up for, but has a better average than the Brady, Watson, Cousins grouping... I'd rather have him over the next 7 weeks and do believe he can still catch that grouping. I see some leaky secondaries (NYG, WAS x2) as well as shootouts (NO, LAR).

What stands out to me is Trubisky. He has been resoundingly crucified by many in these forums with only a few notable exceptions. The reality is he is rapidly improving in a new offense and is around QB 5-6 in many formats. What is more impressive is he has accomplished this while ARob has been a ghost for most of the year. Owners are sleeping on Trubisky.

Yeah Bradys bye makes him most suspectible. Furthermore if he does finish out of the top 12 and at his age his dynasty value will erode further one assumes - except for contending teams in SF I suppose. It is one thing to be "old" but old and QB2 ... hmmm

That was something that stood out for me. I wont deny I was a tad sceptical about Trubisky following in Goffs footsteps, and while I think Goff remains the better talent, Trubisky as a lower QB1 just like Goff was last year should hopefully revise some owners opinions.

I'm just curious, I totally have no idea, it could be last season for all I know - but when was the last time the gap between 1 and 2 was this big, and who were 1 and 2? Anyone know? There's more points between 1 and 2 than 2 and 12. Or 14 even - and a few more I guess.

EDIT: Off the top of my head, Manning's 55 TD season must've had a big gap, I assume.

QB scoring can be funny due to all the varieties for QB TDs - 4/-1, 5/-1, 6/-2 etc - but using the typical QB ppr scoring from the site I use most

2017 - 49 points Wilson / Brady
2016 - 28 points Rodgers / Brees
2015 - 43 points Newton / Brady
2014 - 22 points Luck / Rodgers
2013 - 61 points P. Manning / Brees
2012 - 18 points Brees / Rodgers
2011 - 9 points Brees / Rodgers
2010 - 7 points Rodgers / P. Manning
2009 - 36 points Rodgers / Brees
2008 - 27 points Brees / Rodgers
2007 - 94 points Brady / Romo

Wow, good stuff man. So yeah, Manning and then 2007, that makes even more sense - with the rules and QBs back then the gaps were definitely wider at the top.

It is kind of insane that over that 11 year sample Brees and Rodgers have finished 1st and 2nd in some order 5 times. They have each also made the list without each other a couple times. 6 out of 11 years for Brees and 7 out of 11 years for Rodgers as a top 2 QB.
