Hang on to high 2019 pick or trade for 2020

Postby Wizard » Sat Oct 27, 2018 6:53 pm

I started a thread about studs for 2019 and the overall thoughts seem to be that its not a great year for real studs. So what do you recommend someone do if they have a really high pick for 2019, trade it for a 2020 pick? Of course there's no guarantee that the 2020 pick will turn out as a high pick (but you can who the poor teams are, but you never know, its a risk trading). What should you expect to get for a top 3 2019 pick? What's the best strategy for trading if that's what you recommend?
QB -Tom Brady, Nick Foles Deshaun Watson

RB - Kenyan Drake, Darrius Guise, Tevin Coleman, Leonard Fournett, Kareem Hunt, Justin Jackson, Jaylen Samuels, Carlos Hyde, Duke Johnson Jr., Jordan Wilkins, CJ Anderson, Chris Warren,

WR - Davante Adams , T.Y. Hilton, Courtland Sutton, Devin Funchess, Doug Baldwin, Michael Crabtree, Antonio Callaway, J’Mon Moore, Dylan Cantrell, Keith Kirkwood, James Richie

TE - Zach Ertz, Harris Demetrius, Hayden Hurst

If you do decide to sell those 2019, you should wait until much closer to the draft.

This belongs in the "Team Advice" forum, for future reference.

That top pick should net you 2 2020 random firsts, but ther are no guarantees about that class, either. A lot of those guys coming out in 2020 haven't lived up to the billing yet. I would wait until closer to the draft, no matter what you do. That pick will only accrue value between now and then. Just wait until the combine when guys are slobbering over an early first, and from the combine it gets even better up until and after the NFL draft in value, usually.

It’s a guy call, can really work out either way. In the Zeke draft I traded the 1.03 to a bad team for their 1st the next year. Would have taken Treadwell, instead ended up getting Mixon so you can say that was a win, or call me an idiot for not taking Michael Thomas...

Like I said, can go either way...

Hold on to the pick until the draft, that's when it will be most valuable and you'll be able to trade it for the biggest return. Or a top prospect will emerge and tou an draft him.
