Re: Chad Kelly
What a Phucking moron and he doesn't have the excuse of being born into a horrible situation. In fact it's the exact opposite. A rich white kid born into a family that has a HOF Qb in it.
Now the only interesting thing about his career is how his agent spins this into a "mental health" issue. Instead of him being an alcoholic and likely a drug addict :
"A couple and their young child were inside the home when Kelly allegedly entered the house and sat down on the couch next to the mother, according to Kelly’s arrest affidavit. Kelly was mumbling incoherently, the report said.
The woman called for the man, who confronted the intruder. The man told police he used an aluminum vacuum tube with plastic ends to hit Kelly in the upper back, the affidavit said."

Unbelievable. He was just weeks away from starting and the pressure made him go on a binge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O3YxoFGK2c

Re: Chad Kelly
According to Ben Allbright (Denver area reporter/writer) he didn't even have booze in his system.
So it's either drugs or Swag was on one hell of a sleep walk.

Re: Chad Kelly
He's inaccurate and erratic. Only thing he has going for him is some physical (certainly not mental) toughness and a fancy last name.
Re: Chad Kelly
Definitely going to be hard to spin this one, might be able to get off legally but football wise just blew his shot
Re: Chad Kelly
Feel like the only reason anyone was paying attention to Kelly was that the other options in Denver have been bad to atrocious over the past few years (i.e. opportunity). I know he was partially knocked down in the draft due to off-field concerns but I don't recall a lot of excitement related to his talent. It's not like he was a Day 1-2 pick who fell.Space Cowboy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 11:48 am He's inaccurate and erratic. Re: Chad Kelly
RE ^^
Swag may not have been a 1st round pick but he did have a perfect storm hit him before the draft:
- Torn ACL that caused him to miss another 3 or 4 games of production
- Wasn't able to play at the Senior Bowl but was still present
- No Combine invite which I believe was from off-field stuff and or injury
- Wrist injury at his pro day
- Rehashing of the off the field stuff: kicked off Clemson, nightclub altercation, storming his brother's HS football game lol
He was really good at OM in 2015 and the program took a step back in 2016 but either way, I don't think it's farfetched to say he was a better prospect than Webb, Beathard, Dobbs, PetermINT, and Kaaya.

Re: Chad Kelly
All of those QBs are of the career backup variety (however short those "careers" may be). Being potentially better than any of them shouldn't have led fantasy players to believe he had starter potential. I don't actually know enough about Kelly to weigh in on whether he was physically good or bad at football, because I didn't take the time to look into him. However, I do get the sense that his believers were falling into the all to familiar trap of overvaluing someone simply because they haven't been given the opportunity to disappoint, i.e. the allure of the unknown.

Re: Chad Kelly
1. Super dumb thing to do, but hilarious to read about.
2. All that aside, in terms of actual consequences, assuming he just gets probation and no jail time, will DEN / the NFL suspend him? If not, while this highlights his off-field risk, this doesn't really change his dynasty value for me.

Re: Chad Kelly
Wouldn't be shocked if the Broncos cut him. This is a Manziel-like incident and your QB can't be capable of doing these types of things off the field.
