I'd say Goff. He feels safer from an injury perspective and has a higher floor. Plus, he's surrounded by more talent and is in a market in LA that is going to want points and high scoring games above all else.

I go Goff largely because Watson has been getting lit up this season so I have more durability concerns for him.

Chase, AJB, Amon-Ra, Aiyuk, Olave, DJM, Dell
Andrews, McBride, Engram
IR(3): Chubb, M. Williams, Rodgers
Taxi(4): J. Palmer, Tolbert, T. Palmer
2024 Picks: 3, 4, 5

Team 3: 12 Team PPR, 6 pt Pass TD - 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 3 R/W/T, 28 man rosters, est. 2019
2021 Champion, 2022 Runner-up
Jackson, Love, Tannehill, Z. Wilson
Barkley, Mixon, Mostert, J. Wilson, CEH, Gaskin, J. Hill
J. Jefferson, Diggs, Waddle, Evans, Metcalf, Sutton, R. Moore, Slayton, Berrios, Carter, Dortch, Powell, Raymond

Larger leagues = safer option is usually better.

Pretty much what Phaded said, in a 10-12 team league there's enough QBs where I know I can reliably replace a riskier guy with more upside but in a league with more starters needed it increases the difficulty of acquiring a replacement if say Watson were to get hurt again.
In any given year there's roughly 23-30 relevant QBS, more than enough in 10-12 teams, not enough in 16

Thanks guys. I have an opportunity to potentially acquire Goff for Watson and a little extra. Solid move?

Goff in almost any format. Love Watson, but the dude is taking an unreal beating. Can't believe what I'm seeing half the time -- it's half on Watson, but his protection is just terrible.

The format does not matter in this comparison. The idea that Watson has a higher ceiling is kind of laughable. Goff by a wide margin.

I just see Watson with the higher ceiling because QB rushing yards are pretty much a cheat code for getting points

Goff is the better QB and as a bonus, is attached to the best offensive mind in football. Rushing yards from the QB position is cool, but it comes at the cost of health.

I can appreciate that but Goff is far more efficent as a passer. Goff has McVay for the forseeable future. I also have vivid memories of RG3 and how amazing he was for a very brief time. I now see a running QB as a negative unless he is built like Cam. Watson is not built to run in the NFL.

I would have said Watson before I read these comments, but I think you are right about the ceiling vs floor discussion. Also injury risk is a real thing. Depending on the league if Watson goes down so does the season. As a Luck owner with plodder Alex Smith as the backup I totally get that.
