The Chris Herndon Thread

Postby DynastyDeepDive » Wed Oct 17, 2018 4:01 am

I'm going to make the bold prediction that Chris Herndon ends up with the best rookie stats this season. No competition, young ascending QB, questionable receivers. I say from this week on he starts to put it together with Darnold. He's probably on most leagues wire.

Given the horrible TE landscape, what do you have to loose?

Stashed Herndon during camp. Beat writers raved about Darnold's connection with him. That was enough to warrant a waiver pickup.

I actually drafted him with one of my last picks, then cut him in the offseason when he got the DUI arrest (if I’m remembering correctly)

I was able to pick him up for free a couple weeks ago tho, and now I’m very happy I have him! He looks like he could develop into a streaming TE type at some point.

I try to stash a rookie like him that falls through the cracks every year on my taxi. Last year it was Jonnu and this year it was Herndon. Both came off waivers.

Hope your right. I just picked him up.

Was able to snag him on the last waiver run of the week, early this morning, to plug in for Gronk... yay!

Am really intrigued by this guy. I’d like to pick him up to stash him on taxi, but we have a rule that we can only have 3 active TE’s on our roster and I’m at that now. Guess I’ll keep him on my watch list and see what happens as the year goes on. Seems to have some good chemistry with Darnold already.

Same here. Did the same with Kittle last year. Hoping the repeat the success!

This rookie TE class has been a wasteland with Gesicki being a project, Hurst opening the season with a stress fracture, and Goedert drafted to play behind the second best TE in football... so I dunno that's it's such a bold prediction.

Any rookie finishing with 300-400 yards receiving this year will probably be the 'best' rookie TE. Maybe less.

Anyway. Herndon had some buzz back in OTAs regarding some apparent rapport with Darnold. If Darnold likes him, that's probably all it will take. Jets offense has nothing but journeymen and replacement-level options to throw to.

Great call! I also picked him up after last week as I had a free spot. Pretty happy with how he's looking especially considering how awful the TE position has been

He's been a top 5 (albeit highly TD dependent) fantasy TE in the past two weeks. Nice to see him develop a bit of a rapport with Darnold. Seven targets this week

It would've been a bold prediction if it was made before the season started. Now, Herndon is just as reasonable a bet as Gesicki/Goedert/Andrews to finish with the best stats.

Herndon: 11-145-2
Goedert: 17-156-2
Gesicki: 12-132-0
Andrews: 14-163-2

Those are your leaders as of Week 7. If anything, Herndon might be the favorite, since his usage in the Jets offense is trending up at mid-season.
