This in and of itself is potentially a major issue.
Gesicki is *their* guy. And Gesicki was a polarizing prospect to begin with, so it's important that the coaching staff and GM believe in him.
Whoever Miami hires next could be in the crowd that believe Gesicki is just a workout warrior with athleticism that doesn't translate to his play, and that crowd isn't small.
Or it could just be a new regime that's more traditional about their starting TE, preferring he be a reliable combination blocker and pass-catcher. That would also torpedo Gesicki, as he's probably never going to be an above-average blocker, maybe never even average. Gase is willing to sacrifice competent TE blocking; he proved that with Julius Thomas. Many coaches aren't, though.
