This in and of itself is potentially a major issue.

Gesicki is *their* guy. And Gesicki was a polarizing prospect to begin with, so it's important that the coaching staff and GM believe in him.

Whoever Miami hires next could be in the crowd that believe Gesicki is just a workout warrior with athleticism that doesn't translate to his play, and that crowd isn't small.

Or it could just be a new regime that's more traditional about their starting TE, preferring he be a reliable combination blocker and pass-catcher. That would also torpedo Gesicki, as he's probably never going to be an above-average blocker, maybe never even average. Gase is willing to sacrifice competent TE blocking; he proved that with Julius Thomas. Many coaches aren't, though.

Yes, but the cupboard is also pretty bare from a talent perspective in Miami, especially at the skill positions. Any smart new GM and/or coach should want to see if they have anything in him before writing him off and having to spend another high value pick on a TE. Plus Gesicki was always going to take time to develop and produce, as almost all TE's do. I don't think anything has happened that would make his value go up or down from where it was when we were doing our rookie drafts.
