Valdes-Scantling or Doctson?

Postby PerennialPowerhouse » Wed Oct 03, 2018 8:50 pm

Been sitting on Doctson for 3 seasons on an 18 man roster. Time to cut bait? Is MVS talented enough to justify dropping Doctson?

I've already unloaded any shares of Doctson I had, and I like MVS quite a bit so I' say if the choice is between the two go with MVS. And if he gets to be the 3rd WR this week {which appears likely due to injuries} and does well he probably won't be sitting on the wire any more while Doctson may languish there after you cut him

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing.

Just be aware that Doctson will get scooped... some team will want to gamble. Are you sure you can't unload him for a 2nd or even a 3rd?

He's a jump ball receiver playing with a possession guy in Alex Smith. He may have upside yet to crack, but safe to say we won't see it with Smith under centre. I don't mind the drop given that we're about to see what MVS and the other Rooks can do, but at least see if you can sell him for a bag of chips first.

Doctson has shown NOTHING in three years. I'll take the upside of a Rodgers wide receiver. all day everyday.
In too many leagues to list players. Check out my Dynasty Deep Dive!

Yes MVS is getting a shot at the 3... just like Allison did and just like Adams did before him

I posted this question if he is a roster clogger and the overwhelming majority was "yes." I've since cut bait on him for Ryan Grant. I just wanted to get some WR5 production and Doctson wasn't even giving me that. Good luck to those that pick up on our waste.

I'd still take Doctson here. MVS appears talented, but we see a lot of Packers receivers come and go. The hope for Doctson would be that he goes to a new team with a producing role. I think he is a better receiver than MVS, so I'd rather bet on him.

Doctson is a better talent, better route runner, has better hands and overall a better receiver. The best thing you can say about MVS is that Aaron Rodgers is his QB. Situation may help him produce more points, so I guess it's worth it. But, I can only imagine how Doctson would look with the same opportunity.

MVS was a big, athletic and older prospect coming out who seems to have made more of an impression on the staff than the other players they drafted this year. Basically agree with the post right above mine. He's interesting because he has Rodgers as a QB but not for any other real reason.

Are you thinking he could be traded? Or are you holding on until 2020/2021 when his rookie contract is up, depending on the 5th year option? On some level I've held him this long.. but the idea of needing to wait 2 more years is gut wrenching.

I doubt he's traded, and I feel like that's usually not a good thing in this type of situation. I would hope Washington doesn't decide to exercise his team option.

I don't love Doctson as a dynasty asset, but I would rather him over MVS.

My one small reservation about writing off MVS is that I was kinda doing the same with Golladay last year...but if you look at both of them as prospects coming out, Golladay has MVS beat in almost every way except for age, size and measured athleticism.

Wait, so where does Golladay beat him then...?
Everything I've read/seen on MVS so far suggests a guy still learning the position. He could be in worse spots for that sort of tutelage, though.

This was the word on Doctson as well.

In all honesty, I'd gamble on MVS over Doctson. Doctson has had two plus seasons to prove himself and he hasn't yet. MVS has his chance this weekend and he may not relinquish it. But who knows? That's why the NFL GMs do what they do and why I'm here deciding who's a better fantasy factor.
