Just to dispel this part, Cook didn't get caught from behind. In fact he had the highest mph speed of any ball carrier this year. The safety took an excellent angle from his head start to trip him up before the endzone

Is there a chance he's a bit of a poor man's Barkley?

Boom or bust runs, but Booms enough where you almost count on at least one a game

Great pass catching chops to provide a floor, where his between the tackles running may not be good enough to provide that yardage floor if he doesn't break one loose

Dalvin looked really good and healthy.

I think the "boom or bust" comments can be applied to any RB as it's largely based on the blocking the RB receives, and the Vikings o-line has been below average the last three seasons. Dalvin has shown he can bust a long run on occasion despite poor blocking and that he'll have a high floor with his receiving chops.

And on his long run yesterday, hockeybjj is right, the safety had the angle on him and cut him off just before the end zone. I don't get why other are blaming Dalvin for that.

I find it strange this board is so down on Cook and so high on Guice

I think it's because Cook has had two extended absences vs Guice's one. If Guice misses a big chunk of time next year, he'll be similarly devalued.

22.05 mph, and they played him knowing they had a bye the next week. I think he's good to go until his next injury.

Guice is a bigger, more punishing version of Dalvin. I'm pretty high on both tbh.

No. They are nothing alike. Dalvin is a one cut, hit the hole and run fast type player...stylistically a bit like Guice, Tevin Coleman, etc. Because he has a low BMI and isn't super elusive, he will in large part get mostly what the line blocks for him, but make the most out of it with his speed.

If anybody is a poor man's Barkley, stylistically I'd say Mixon is a better comp. But I don't even really like that. Saquon is so freaky athletic there is no real comp out there.

From my recollection, Cook's Yards Created data said that he is one of the best producers behind a bad line.

From a talent and vision perspective, I fully believe Cook can be a top 5 RB in the NFL. I hope he gets over the injuries. Barkley and Guice comparisons are way off, they aren't really close or the same size at all. From a running style, Cook is a one cut and go runner, with elite vision and ability to slip off would be tacklers. His contact balance is elite, and he takes great angles on tackles with subtle movements, which allows him to keep momentum and move forward. Cook played with one of the worst lines in college football at FSU, and was dominate. If he can stay healthy, and I think he will (people forget he is coming off a torn ACL, there are going to be compensating injuries), watch out. This is an excellent time to buy.

Saquon is unique due to what he can do at his size. There is a mini-me out there. Jerick McKinnon. 8-)
