It definitely has me wondering. In discussions now to acquire Bell.

But what's his value? What are you paying if you are a contender? What are you buying if you are looking to next season if he ever comes back at all?

Bell has a lot of tread on his tires....I'd trade him in no time flat for something like Howard and a 1st

Ha that guy was dreaming. I offered Bell straight up for CMC, Hunt, Fournette and Gordon a few weeks ago and was flat rejected on every one of them.

Thanks. Bell was in the final year of his contract, and DJ has 3 years left, and like you said, the 1st is gravy. Or, I would have received a 1st as compensation for losing Bell, so DJ would be the gravy... :D

If Bell were to skip the entire season, the Steelers would strongly considering applying the franchise or transition tag in 2019, I'm told. That would trigger what could be a heated arbitration process with the NFLPA as to what the 2019 salary for Bell should be under those tags, but sources said the NFL Management Council believes that in some circumstances Bell could be transitioned at as low as the 2019 running back transition number (roughly $9 million). He could have made a maximum of $14.5 million on the franchise tag this season. The transition tag would give the Steelers a window to match any offer Bell receives, with no draft-pick compensation if he does depart.
Oof.

If I was Bell, I'd be firing my agent right now and reporting to the Steelers ASAP. Just a terribly managed situation.

What's even worse for him than that is that article went on to imply Bell may play WR for the Steelers upon his return. Bell played his hand and held way too long. Should have folded after Conner's 2 bad weeks in week 2 and 3.

Yep. Bell blew this badly. He'll never recoup all the money he turned down plus the money he's lost this year by not playing. I doubt he gets an offer as high as the Steelers offer last off season.

It's a what have you done for me lately league and Bell has done nothing.
