Robert Woods

Huge game today. Leads team in targets (9+ in each game so far). Currently WR10 (although will probably get passed by DJax, Evans, JuJu, and/or AB tomorrow).

How much do you think he's worth?

He's the Bilal Powell of wide receivers. He's reliable, so he sticks around and produces despite being just an average player. He's not worth a first.

Woods is the kinda guy who's more valuable to his owners than anyone is willing to pay. So all you can do is hold onto him and reap the benefits.

Woods was mired in the Bills offense for the first 4 years of career. He was the WR16 in points per game last season (first season with Rams). The knock on him this offseason was that Cooks was going to steal his targets, but he's been at least tied for the lead in targets every game so far this season. I think you're underselling him....he's not Bilal Powell.

We are all welcome to our opinions. As an owner, what incentive is there to move him for less than a future 1st? So, you may feel he isn't worth that but, his situation, his qb, his role on offense, his production / target share, and his age all seem to indicate that your opinion is likely in the minority.

As an owner, No way I'd consider moving him for a future 2nd. Do people not realize what the actual hit / miss ratio is on 2nd round picks? Well, I do know what the ratio is and because of that - YES, Woods is worth a mid to late future 1st.

I just don't think he's worth a first and would not pay that for him. I understand not selling for a 2nd, though I do think I'd peg his value as an early 2nd. That's the price I would pay for a contending team.

If he can finish the entire season as a fringe WR1, then he's worth a first (like Marvin Jones this offseason).

I think you're overvaluing late firsts if you think Woods needs to finish as a fringe WR1 to be worth that much (especially in your 14 team league).

I do all my valuations assuming 12-team PPR, but sure a 14-team league changes things.

I think a lot of folks over value picks. I think we remember the hits and forget the misses. Woods is, in my opinion worth a mid to late 1st. He is worth 2 second round picks at least. Why? Because at least a few of the rookies taken mid to late in the first rounds of our rookie drafts, never pan out. Heck, 50% of our 2nds don't become fantasy relevant. Woods, has and his future looks brighter than his past. I'm not saying he is worth the 1.01 here. But, he certainly is worth more than say a 2019 1.08 or 1.09. Look at who is projected to be drafted around that spot. His situation is significantly better than it was in Buffalo. Goff is showing that he can support 2 - 3 fantasy relevant wr. The LA Rams offense looks to be very dangerous, balanced, young, and talented.

Woods was himself a late first "miss" for his first four seasons.

I think this just reflects how impatient many in the dynasty community are. Woods is just 26 and in the prime of his career. Was in a bad situation for 4 seasons and is now the WR2 on a great offense. If you trade him for a late first, the pick may never pan out as well as Woods has last season and this season, and even if whatever player you get with the pick does ultimately pan out...it may take 4+ seasons to happen. Woods is producing in a great situation now...that has to be worth something.

Also it's not like he came in and sat on the bench or was just completely awful for his first 4 seasons. He averaged 9.1 PPR points per game in Buffalo, which is actually kind of decent when you consider how awful that passing attack is/was (#29, #18, #28, and #30 in passing yards per game the 4 years he was there). He was a fairly consistent WR 3/4 when healthy in Buffalo, and has produced at a consistently higher rate for the Rams when healthy (WR16 in PPG last year, not to mention a 9/142/0 outing in the playoffs). I think the community determined he wouldn't be as valuable this year because of the Rams adding Cooks, but so far that has not proven true at all.
