The Browns should trade Tyrod to SF for an early pick and get stronger next year.

How in the world is Darnold taken before Mayfield? Does your league give bonus points for passes under 10 yards?

2.04 Darnold, Sam NYJ QB (R)
2.06 Jackson, Lamar BAL QB (R)
2.10 Rosen, Josh ARI QB (R)
3.05 Allen, Josh BUF QB (R)
4.02 Mayfield, Baker CLE QB (R) (Me)

QB was all over the place this year. Baker was really polarizing on draft day. And the Browns' history spoke for itself as usual, driving down all Browns players, like pretty much every year since seemingly the dawn of time.

Didn't really need a QB, but whatever. It was round 4 and there was a sea of dart throws otherwise at 4.02. Thought about Callaway (even though I mainly avoid head cases), but tried trading in in the late 4th for him later instead... couldn't work out a deal for the 4.09 and he actually took Callaway. It's fine, I have too many Browns as it is!

Back on Baker... I have to say, I can't remember the last time I was so excited about a player coming into the game and leading the way to a comeback win... never mind a freaking Browns player.

The energy and excitement were palpable when Mayfield came in and played - and played well. He was Joe Cool on top of that, both during and after the game for the NFL Network interview. Simply put: impressive.

Agreed 100% on your points  Hopefully he can keep that poise and not start overthinking things. I was certainly impressed.

Baker went 2.6 in my 12-team league. One of my picks was 2.5, and I would've taken him there if Dante Pettis wasn't available. This, despite me already rostering Watson and Stafford.

I took Deshaun Watson in the 3rd round in '17. He was the highest QB on my board for that year.

I had a much higher grade on Baker Mayfield this year than I did on Watson last year.

Our draft was on May 12 and I got Baker as the third QB as well. It went:

2.05 Rosen (Cards homer)
2.07 Jackson (Ravens homer)
2.08 Mayfield (me!)
4.07 Darnold (well before he was named the starter)
5.01 Allen (still a reach)

I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is, but I just love that kid. I have no affiliation with the Browns, but I actually cheered out loud when they took him first overall. I was elated when he fell to me in the rookie draft. And watching him come in on Thursday and calmly put an end to almost two full years of futility literally gave me goosebumps. I’m happy for myself and I’m happy for the long suffering Browns fans. I can’t wait to see what he does next...

For me it's him being written off by so many people because she he's short and "only plays for himself" etc, also I can't stand Cowherd so the more he talked down Baker the more I wanted him to succeed and go first, thirdly when he went to the Browns, I just felt bad for them after all these years ha

Ugh. The lazy Manziel comps were the worst.

I guess it also felt like a victory for us metrics weirdos. It was pretty gratifying watching all the stupefied, talking head draft “experts” who had guys like Rosen, Allen and Darnold above him on their boards try to explain it. Haha.

Baker Mayfield's tape was significantly better than every other QB's in this draft. Darnold's came closest. it was miles better than Rosen, Jackson, Rudolph, Allen.

So what that Mayfield's 6'1"? One inch shorter than Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson? Two inches taller than Russell Wilson? And that's just present-day. Please. His height isn't ideal, but that con is relatively trivial, certainly trivial enough that it was a stupid reason for some pundits and front-offices to think he couldn't be justified as the 1.1 selection.

Especially since height is far more crucial for a QB constantly under center and staying statuesque tall in the pocket, old style football. Present day football is getting more and more spread out, with more and more shotgun style and moving QB approaches. Height is less critical than before, and it really was the ONLY thing he wasn't the best at (other than "who could more easily break a wall down with footballs" and "who can run faster"). He was the best QB in every other tangible way; the best quarterback at quarterbacking, and the intangibles like leadership and confident swagger seemed to go his way as well, but that's always a subjective opinion.
