How quickly we fall...

Postby BearlyBears » Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:23 am

I was just offered Marlon Mack and Jared Cook for David Johnson.

That's how far we've fallen.

I started the year with high hopes. I own DJ and Bell and some young studs ready to break out.

On paper I'm a champ. I mean - DJ and Bell?! Arguably two of the top five overall players. What could go wrong?

Now DJ's an afterthought that someone thinks they can snag for Marlon Mack and Bell's sitting in my IR and not even injured.

smh This has got to get better, right DJ and Bell owners?

Just need to jump in here and cry in my beer a bit. Carry on.

What a dick lol

Sidenote: I don't like the setting that allows Bell to be IR eligible, but not my league/not my problem haha.

Somebody offered me Corey Davis and Chris Carson for him and I thought that was bad.
But Marlon Mack and Jared Cook???
C'mon Man.

Yep IR should only be for players on IR. No other designation should count.

The offer is absolutely insulting but I am of the mind that DJ was a flash in the pan player, which we have all seen. I could be wrong like we all are though. Bell went for Arob and Josh Gordon in my league just as an example. So ya he has fallen far it seems.

Can't stand sh*t offers like that. But on the flipside, is it bad that I'm even considering starting Breida over DJ this week? Lol. That Cardinals offense better get it together.

Guess it's time to chuck out some DJ offers.

Although, this might not even be his floor. After looking at the schedule, his value might drop even more based on his next 5 or so games...esp if they keep Bradford at QB. The schedule lightens up a bit for RBs after the bye, but that's not until week 10. I bet his stock continues to fall for a few weeks.

This is dynasty. Look what happened to Gurley in 2016. Just hold DJ and bounce back when you can. Do not sell him right now.

I'll take the opposite position here, in the NFL a player on IR, a suspended player and a player that hasn't reported/signed his tender are functionally the same. None count against the 53 man roster and the team retains the rights to them. There's no reason to be any different in fantasy, especially when the fantasy owner isn't at fault for the player's real world situation.

Very good points. I'm reconsidering my position on the matter

Not taking that deal, of course. I'm holding and hoping putting Rosen in at QB and diversifying the playcalling will wake up the sleeping giant and put DJ back on top again.

As for Bell...still holding, holding and waiting...

I don't agree. Injury is something outside of a player's control whereas suspension, failure to report, etc.are... As a fantasy owner you assume that part of the risk of player ownership. You'd rather allow someone to go out and take a Martavis Bryant or Josh Gordon only to them allow them to be placed on IR? Do you handle retired players the same way? What about anyone who is just a free agent, like Dez? Sorry, no free passes. IR is only for IR. I would never play in a league with such ridiculous rules that allow someone like Bell to be placed there.

We talk all the time how in Dynasty situations change in a heartbeat, but rarely do we execute this practice. Teams/Offenses besides New England, Pitt, Green Bay,and N.O. change on an almost year to year basis. Thats why I never get too high or too low on any young player that has individual talent. It matters, but it changes fairly quick. Even the Lions went from 0-16 to having a couple years of a very potent passing attack, albeit part of that is due to no rushing attack. Browns were 1-31 and seem to be slooowly turning that corner, should be 2-0, or at least 1-1. That trade offer belongs in the worst trade offer thread. Cardinals look like poo this year, but DJ is still a talent and they can turn it around to at least respectable fairly quick, you never know.
