He targeted him 7 times on that drive (although one of those is a bit...questionable considering he didn't even really get the ball off and it was ruled a fumble on the field). I really like Boyd, although I guess fair to question whether could excel consistently without defenses keying on AJG (although he did pretty well last week after AJG went out). He's got to be considered a late first+ value at this point, right? And I don't think I'd sell for that even.

His routes are impeccable and Dalton obviously trusts him. Getting harder each week to not believe.

I almost feel bad. A buddy of mine tried to trade him to me constantly for the past year. I kept rejecting and beating him down. Finally the guy dropped him. I scooped him up off of waivers at the first peep of good news out of camp and am now reaping the benefits. I am really tempted to offer him back to that buddy for a first a see what happens.

He got seven targets on the game winning drive yesterday. AJG caught the TD, but Boyd kept the game alive twice on 4th down. I think he's turning into a bit of a safety blanket for Dalton, and with Eifert's injury yesterday he's primarily competing with AJG for targets at this point (plus Gio to a lesser extent). I'm not in a hurry to sell Boyd right now, and will hold him unless I get an offer that blows me away.

Don't forget that he's a former 2nd round NFL draft pick who had nearly 4,000 scrimmage yards in 3 seasons at Pitt and had a solid rookie season (54/661/1), so he's not some UFA coming out of nowhere.

From watching every Bengal game (my wife is a Bengal fan) - I can confidently express my opinion that Boyd is legit. Dalton trusts him and he is the chain mover in this offense. Things are only going to get better now with Eifert gone.

Oh - and he catches everything.

Probably the luckiest WW pick up of all time for me.
Wow. He looks like a monster and with AJ Green at 30 years old with his expiring contract after next season...
Boyd will be stepping into the number one role at age 25. I'm basically speechless at this whole situation.

Does he have the tools to be a number 1? Should we hope AJ Green stays and Boyd has more of a Roddy White type career? Which is still very good.

This is 2018 not 2007 anymore, you don't need to be a 6'3 monster to be a number 1. The top WR group has plenty of receivers who win in completely different ways. His most comparable from that group (though obviously there is a talent gap between them) would be AB. Both of them are superb route runners, and they win with their routes and great hands. Neither is a remarkable athlete for an NFL WR, but both are elite route runners. I think Boyd will be a WR2 for this season and next season, provided AJ Green is healthy. But I think after next season he could conceivably enter low-end WR1 territory.

Boyd looks set to grow as a WR2 for a few years before becoming the WR1 when they move on from AJG

I'd say that very good is still an understatement since Roddy White had 6 straight 1150+ yard seasons, and even at 33 he still put up a WR2 season. But I would agree that if Green sticks around for a couple of more years that could indeed be good for Boyd in not having to be the focal point.
