I thought this topic was discussed previously, but I could not find it. My question is how are you planning on creating the draft order for the 2012 dynasty draft, if 2011 is a lockout? Obviously draft orders are set for 2011, and dynasty drafts will take place, but what about 2012. I can't see allowing the same teams to have the 1st pick in both 2011 and 2012 based off of worst record.
Do you do a lottery system for 2012? Do you freeze rookies for the entire 2012 year, and make the 2013 draft rediculous? I would like to have my leagues ironed out of what will take place, in case there is a lockout. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the help Canaduh.
As a commissioner, it is better for my leagues to have something lined up in the bylaws so other owners know what action will happen just in case.

Re: Lockout question concerning 2012 draft order
We had a lengthy discussion and decided to run ours thusly:
We are using the 2011 draft order as our basis for the lottery system. In a 12 team league, this means the worst team will get 12 ball, the next worst 11, and so on until the best team gets 1 ball in the pot. Our rationale was that in dynasty teams rarely make bold moves from worst to first or vice versa and most of the time the moves are gradually up or down. We ran just two "test" drawings and the results pretty much fell right in line with what one might expect...below are the results of those tests which reflect the number of positions a team moved up or down with the lottery done this way and the number of teams which did so. So 0:5 would be did not move at all, 5 teams...1:5 is team moved up or down 1 draft position, 5 teams...and so on.
0: 5
1: 5
2: 4
3: 3
4: 2
5: 2
6: 3
Obviously this was a tiny sample size and we had the anomaly of 3 teams moving as many as 6 spots. With a larger sample size, the results would be pretty linear. Bottom line is we felt that this wasn't a full out lottery which could benefit the strongest teams or hurt the weakest, but it also gave every team the possibility of moving and some moved quite a bit.

If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

If we lose a year of Football, I think you will probably lose owners and will have to take drastic measures. I seriously feel like we won't miss any games.

Re: Lockout question concerning 2012 draft order
We decided to hold a random lottery if there isn't a 2011 season to base results off of.

This is what I was thinking to make it fair for all teams involved. Hopefully it will not come down to this.skip wrote:We had a lengthy discussion and decided to run ours thusly:
