I play in a similar league and something like this happens every year, no one complains. Well, sometimes they complain in an “oh dang, why didn’t I do that?” Kinda way.

What was everyone going to do, let him go undrafted? If that is the plan then guys injured in preseason with season ending injuries shouldn’t be allowed to be drafted, as that wasn’t the case you’re all good.

If somebody took Dez and he came back, would that be unethical? Or even farther, when Marshawn was "retired" and ended up returning. I really dont get how this is a question at all, besides nobody wanted to waste an early pick on him.
