Who are your buy low targets during the upcoming season?

Postby Wizard » Tue Aug 21, 2018 6:25 pm

What players are you hoping have a slow start to the season so you pick them up on the cheap or at least get an opportunity to trade with a frustrated owner for a better price?

My rookie targets are Chubb due to him probably starting behind Hyde to start the season and Guise due to his injury

Sophomores are Corey Davis and Mixon.

Veteran is Coleman but unfortunately the team that has him is counting on him as one of their starters, slow start might make a trade for a 1st round pick look pretty nice.

Remember, buy low, sell high.
QB -Tom Brady, Nick Foles Deshaun Watson

RB - Kenyan Drake, Darrius Guise, Tevin Coleman, Leonard Fournett, Kareem Hunt, Justin Jackson, Jaylen Samuels, Carlos Hyde, Duke Johnson Jr., Jordan Wilkins, CJ Anderson, Chris Warren,

WR - Davante Adams , T.Y. Hilton, Courtland Sutton, Devin Funchess, Doug Baldwin, Michael Crabtree, Antonio Callaway, J’Mon Moore, Dylan Cantrell, Keith Kirkwood, James Richie

TE - Zach Ertz, Harris Demetrius, Hayden Hurst

I still believe in the henry hype train.

Dion detailed it a bit. Kind hope it's all dion to start so I can grab henry more places
QB - DWatson(HOU)Minshew(JAX)Darnold(NYJ)
RB -NChubb(CLE)DHenry(TEN)JTaylor(IND)Gurley(ATL)
WR -DHopkins(ARI)ACooper(DAL)CGodwin(TB)OBJ(CLE)
TE - HHenry(SD)DGoeddart(PHI)
K - Zurlien(LAR)Crosby(GB)
Def - ARI DAL
[rookie] Haskins(WAS)DSwift(DET)Jefferson(MIN)MHardman(KC)
7th pick in 2021

Rosters must always be 3qbs 4wrs 4rbs 2tes 2kickers 2dst and protected players don't take up a roster spot, but are only for rookie/2nd-year players that were drafted

i dont agree with this list at all haha. do you know what buy low means? i honestly dont think i would consider a single one of these guys you named as a buy low candidate

I like Williams for sure. Mixon and Davis are not buy low candidates for me, I believe a lot of people are targeting them.

Will Fuller and Chris Hogan .. NE and HOU have the easiest slate of schedules this year, and no one really believes in these 2 players

and if you don't think Fuller qualifies, then Keke Coutee, or the TE Akins

Also I think Goodwin with SF is going to have a fantastic year, think you might be able to get him pretty easily ..

I interpreted the title as guys the OP expects to underperform during the season, dropping their price, and you buy them at that point. I didn’t interpret it as buying now for the upcoming season like some lists are stating. Guys like Guice, Chubb, Hunter Henry, ones that will be on the sidelines while a team is making the push to win-now are obvious examples. Perhaps Alshon if he is out early and still rounding into form (assuming his value can even go lower).

In general, I view this as a Year 2, maybe Year 3 if you’re still a believer, player who doesn’t break out early, or injured/suspended guy type of list. Old guys would also qualify if a contender starts to fall out of the hunt.

Meh, that's fair. They're just the guys that I personally believe in long-term, but I can see very realistic scenarios where they start off the season on a bad note for one reason or another and really kill their owners' confidence in them (or at least their valuation of them). And none of them have safely insulated value to them, besides Mixon maybe, which means you can actually buy LOW, instead of the wishful thinking people got on players like Davis, Chubb, Mike Williams, etc. I get the thinking, but those literally just don't apply to me cause in my league, the owners are way too patient to give up on a Year 1-2 player so easily. Unless you're expecting a Davante Adams-like catastrophic meltdown, which is tough to predict.

When I listed them I wasn't listing my buy low candidates right now. They're the players that I'm expecting/hoping to be buy low candidates after the first 3-5 weeks of the season. Having said that I'm not gonna vehemently defend any of these choices, it's all personal preference imo. My answer would likely be completely different a month from now anyway lol.

I feel like all the 2018 rookie WR's and all the RB's not named Saquon or Royce will be solid buy low candidates at the end of the year. A couple vets I think will fit the mold are Goff (I think he will slightly regress but I still see a Stafford-like future for him) and Luck (he will be rusty and the team around him is still awful [seriously, WTF are they doing over there? they draft worse than the Browns!]).

Chris Godwin. Surely owners want a pretty penny for him now but if he starts getting consistent targets it could be a lot more soon.

He's one of the only players in the league whose actual talent I don't doubt. Situation is all that stands in his way IMO

Hurst was a good mention. I agree on that one.
