From our rojo thread it seemed as though some were feeling that he was a bust and not worth rostering and it seems on this Hines thread, that some are luke warm and semi positive on Hines. Just leaves me scratching my head is all.
I found Jones to be one of the more polarizing running backs in the draft based on this community as well as dynasty analysts, while Hines always seemed to be more of a "wait and see" prospect. I'd suppose that nothing has really happened to "help" Jones, in fact, quite the opposite with a healthy scratch game one while Hines saw 45% of the offensive snaps and went 5 for 19, moving his needle up a bit. I could definitely see that moving Hines up the proverbial "draft board" and Jones down.

So, you had them ranked similarly after the NFL draft and as of today, you value Nyheim Hines more than Ronald Jones in dynasty formats. You probably aren't alone there.

I personally, had Jones a bit higher pre draft and post draft but he's regressed a tad since the poor preseason. Hines seems to be getting a little positive buzz, and I own him in a couple leagues so, I figured I'd gauge opinion. Thanks.
Maybe it's a bit of hindsight.

I had jones at the back of the 2nd tier penny michel chubb guice Freeman Johnson. And would have taken him after the sutton DJ and Ridley and maybe even Barkley and gisecki. Was not a fan of how he couldnt catch and fell over easily after contact.

I did have ranked higher than hines but unless he fell to like 16 or something I wasn't touching him. Hines was a guy I thought was a smart pick late 2nd early 3rd. Nice upside.

So far what we've seen from jones put hines above him if the draft were today
QB - DWatson(HOU)Minshew(JAX)Darnold(NYJ)
RB -NChubb(CLE)DHenry(TEN)JTaylor(IND)Gurley(ATL)
WR -DHopkins(ARI)ACooper(DAL)CGodwin(TB)OBJ(CLE)
TE - HHenry(SD)DGoeddart(PHI)
K - Zurlien(LAR)Crosby(GB)
Def - ARI DAL
[rookie] Haskins(WAS)DSwift(DET)Jefferson(MIN)MHardman(KC)
7th pick in 2021

Rosters must always be 3qbs 4wrs 4rbs 2tes 2kickers 2dst and protected players don't take up a roster spot, but are only for rookie/2nd-year players that were drafted

He was dropped today....would you drop AP to pick him up in ppr? Seems like he won't go away.

Nyhiem Hines

Postby Shagmyster90 » Mon Dec 14, 2020 2:03 pm

I’m curious to what you think his ceiling is moving forward? Dump pass Phil has certainly help him shine this year, but it seems Reich makes it a priority to get him involved.

Hines is 24 and currently putting up RB1-RB2 numbers depending on how deep your league is.

In ppr leagues hes a great RB2 in that 15-24 range. I've loved him since the colts drafted him due to his versatility. I do wish we saw more formations with both JT and Hines on the field together.

Nyheim Hines Extension

Postby FantasyFreak » Fri Sep 10, 2021 2:37 pm

3 years/18.6 million

JT is just never going to be a 3 down back. In today's NFL, so few will, I think. Of course JT will still catch passes, but the reality is, specialist RB's is something teams really like these days.

For Hines, should solidify himself as a PPR flex play for a few years.

Obviously the bellcow role is best for the weekly/seasonal ceiling, but from a dynasty perspective I wonder if we start to see (some) RBs have longer careers.

JT did just fine sharing touches with Hines last season. Once the colts trusted him enough to give him more carries he exploded. I'm all in on JT.

Yeah, I have him in a ton of places, he's just not going to hit those huge numbers with the PPR game. He's Nick Chubb, or Nick Chubb plus if he really fires, and that's just fine by me.

Yeah, catches aren't gonna bail him out for you when he is having a less than stellar day.

But if he's playing a rushing defense that isn't top notch he's gonna put up huge points.

Does this make Hines more valuable in dynasty than JT now?
