Jalen Ramsey's QB Rankings

Postby thebeast » Wed Aug 15, 2018 10:36 am

Sorry if I missed a thread on this, I didn't see it . I found Jalen's recent GQ comments pretty interesting, he basically rated every NFL QB. I gotta say, I pretty much agree with him (full article here https://www.gq.com/story/jalen-ramsey-t ... -interview)

Summary of Jalen Ramsey's QB Thoughts

Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey didn't hold back assessing the NFL's quarterbacks. A sampling of his opinions to GQ magazine:
QB COMMENT
Allen 'He's trash'
Mayfield Gets how he was top pick
Jackson 'He's gonna do a good job'
Flacco 'He sucks'
Rodgers Doesn't suck
Brady Doesn't suck
Taylor Underrated
Mariota Good game manager
Garoppolo 'Guess' he's good
Watson Will be an MVP
Wentz Will be an MVP
Goff 'Average to above average'
Prescott 'He's okay'
Cousins 'He's a winner'
Wilson 'Good'
Roethlisberger 'Decent at best'
Manning Odell makes him
Bortles 'Blake do what he gotta do'
Foles Good enough to win SB
Brees 'Really good'
Luck 'Don't think he's good'
Stafford 'He's straight'
Tannehill Haven't heard good things
Ryan 'Overrated'

I don't take issue with too many of his comments, though he's off on a couple (realizing these are just subjective opinions). But this one is clearly in the wrong. Cousins' career W-L is 26-30-1. As much as people talked him up a year ago as a great fit for Jacksonville and this year for the Vikings, the reality is that he isn't a "winner". He's probably just good enough to help an otherwise great team to a Superbowl. Even Nick Foles didn't screw that up last season. I like Cousins but I don't think he is some major improvement for the Vikings over having kept Case Keenum.

Well, Cousins is a winner in that he got paid and he got away from the Dan Snyder.

Unfortunately he didn’t comment on Sam Darnold but I guess that’s because Josh Norman was too busy making love to him.

It did not change my perception of Jalen,; great talent, very outspoken/cocky, low IQ (or at least tries really hard to seem that way, good chance). I was disappointed to not see Newton on that list. Based off his other comments, would be interested to see his response.

I feel like Cousins gets blamed too much for the Redskins being flawed overall the past few years. There's never been a Redskins team the past three years that people looked at and thought could make the Super Bowl or something. Yet, they still won a division title during that stretch.

Not to derail the thread, but I suspect if Foles were as good as you make him out to be, he would be a starter in the league. I battled repeatedly against someone who talked him up as a top 3 QB after his monster season as I believed it was a complete fluke as I see a pretty average QB. There's nothing necessarily wrong with average. Average can get things done. But it's not impressive either. I don't see Cousins as a difference maker relative to who they had previously. That was really the point.

Well, at least you've come around to him being average/capable. Last year I believe it was “worst starting QB in the league.” :D

Gives people bleep to talk about during the slow days before the season starts.

I like his moxie but he's kind of putting a target on his back. He better ball out again

Being a Vikes fan, I love this. I don't know if I agree with it though. He hasn't really won yet. But playing devil's advocate, he hasn't really had much around him. He's still an unknown for me. Maybe Ramsey was just talking about his demeanor? I don't know
