Roc Thomas

He is killing it so far in this preseason game. I know he is behind Cook and Murray, but is he a good stash going forward? Can he take over that McKinnon role?

Looks like someone else had the same idea, because he was just scooped up.

He really didn't have a ton to do on either TD. He was wide open on one, and the Denver D was nowhere to be seen on the screen. Dalvin is the better player and is a pass catcher, so no, he isn't going to have "the McKinnon" role, there is no such thing. I think Latavius will spell Dalvin, and Dalvin should be their 3rd down back. Thomas could be the 3rd back on the depth chart, but he won't be fantasy relevant without an injury. He could be worth a stash though, for sure.

I actually like Murray as a sleeper, though the Oline might end up being brutal. At least there is a competent QB and good wrs to offset it. I think Cook will get hurt again, gut call, so I guess that would put Thomas as the backup. Worse stashes out there.

Cook has the starting role as well as the “McKinnon” roll. Gonna be a huge 3 down presence in fantasy, only losing a few touches to Murray a spell or 3rd and short

Roc will be a gadget player unless cook tears his acl again. Then he’d get the McKinnon roll

Yea I didn’t want to get too excited about him, because it is only the first preseason game. While he looked good, he will be behind Cook and Murray. Cook should be a 3 down back thos year, with Murray operating as pretty good backup.

Thomas won’t get much run unless an injury occurs.

I think Murray will get some work. Dalvin isn't going to run it 300 times this year. Murray will spell him to keep Dalvin fresh, and could get goal line work, too.

I was talking up Roc as a deep sleeper on some thread right after he signed as an UDFA in Minnesota. No, he isn’t gonna take over for Cook. And no, he isn’t likely to overtake Murray either. However, Murray is a FA after this season, and the Vikings could let him walk. Roc could end up as the #2 guy in Minnesota next year (and could get some in-season reps this year due to injury).

I know, there are a lot of “ifs” and “coulds”, but that’s like and thats football...especially for an UDFA. But he has a good a shot as any depth guy, and could easily be the #3 RB in Minnesota this year.

And to be fair, as much as I would like Cook to be an every-down bell cow, I think the days of teams running a one RB system are dying out. Real football teams benefit by having a 2 or 3 RBs that can all log “significant” snaps.

And no, you can’t sign off on a guy as the second coming after one preseason game. But it is encouraging.
