Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
The Browns should just close up shop and disperse their players. What a joke the franchise is.

Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
Maybe his thought process was that $5 might be a common bid number, and the somewhat set mind on stealing a roster bubble player bids $6, so he would bid $7. No, $0. No, take the chance and go $7. Only it came out 707MrUbuto wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 11:30 amWtf...Friction wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:31 pm We get $300 for blind binding each year, which can be rolled over. Solid memory Lotto. Mush was actually just in town, we stayed away from the casino. As far as the bid for Callaway goes, there is just no explanation. Our rookie draft was just a few days prior to waivers being opened, so it is not like the Gordon or Coco news happened in between. I think that is the highest dollar amount i have seen spent on any player, in any league I have been in, ever. Most people don't even have the discipline to bank that much money, even the stacked teams that don't need to rely on waivers much.Lotto4Life wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 8:31 pmThis sounds like your friend MushFriction wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:31 pm We get $300 for blind binding each year, which can be rolled over. Ok, this news doesn’t mean the Browns are not heading in the right direction.
He was a 4th round pick, not a day 1 or 2 draft pick. And he was considered by many to be the most talented WR in the draft class. So, I actually encourage a team like the Browns to take swings at guys like this.
Heck, New England did that with Hernandez years ago. Uber talented, some said more than Gronk, but had off field issues. Then those issues caught up with him in the NFL and we know what happened. But it was still a worthwhile swing for the fence.
In fact, I like teams that take shots on supremely talented players late in the rookie draft. Why not? Many times you’ll miss, as this situation looks like right now. But if you hit on the superstar in the late rounds, that’s how teams go from bad to good, or from mediocre to a contender.

Did we see something like this coming.... yeah. Was this pick a "good" pick still, also yeah, for IRL and fantasy purposes. Hit rate in the fourth round for real teams gotta be like 1/3 or 1/4 for us we can get him in like late 3rd eaarly fourth which is a lower rate than that possibly. When a guy like DGB with comparable off the field stuff and talent IMO goes second round IRL and first round in fantasy puts this in context. See guys like Hill for what he could be
Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
His story might actually check out. I watched the dash cam video and he seemed genuinely surprised that stuff was in the car. And it’s not like he’s failed any drug tests. Isn’t he in stage 1? So that means he’s being tested more frequently?

Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
Yeah, this is starting to sound less and less alarming as we learn more. What started as a "firearm and bullets" has become "bullets and a strap from a handgun" which he said wasn't even in the state. The "small amount" of weed they found sounds like crumbs and he's on level 1 testing which means he is passing tests rather frequently. Finding a tiny bag of weed under the seat of a former weed smokers car isn't exactly a stretch to put into perspective.

I really really hope this kid doesn’t blow it though. What the heck is he doing out at 3 am? His upside is crazy. Before the draft I told my friend that Callaway would be my #1 WR if not for his issues and also how early he goes in the draft. He just popped off my screen over and over.
Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
Even if it wasn't his, he's already tested positive once, and now he's been ticketed for possession, I'm sure the league will suspend him 2 games since he was already in the program when this happened.
There's no free passes when you're already in the program and get caught, even if you have some plausible story about how it wasn't yours.

I don't disagree there will be a fine/suspension coming. I just don't think this is a career killer and it doesn't seem the Browns are too concerned.

Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
I find it humorous that Callaway didn't tell the team about this incident before they traded away Corey Coleman.
Re: Antonio Callaway cited for marijuana
He's playing tonight and the Browns are buying his story
