Great thorough post by OP. Thanks a lot. I fell in love with Miller early on and if I had a first I would have taken him at 1.14 no matter who was on board. He was my clear number 1, close to Sutton. Probably would have taken him as high as 6 if I were there and couldn't trade down.

After week of throwing offers at the owner finally got one to stick and am now a happy owner. Just goes to show persistence pays off. If nothing else they'll pay to make their phone stop buzzing.

Anyone actually have a draft where Miller went as the WR1? I'm hearing a lot of talk, but I doubt many people are putting their money where their mouth is.

I haven't seen him go as the WR1 yet. We're currently drafting in one of my leagues and I think I got a steal. Here's how the WRs went:

1.6 Ridley
1.10 Kirk (me)
1.11 Moore
1.12 Sutton
1.13 Gallup
2.1 Miller (me)
2.2 Washington (me)

Yeah, I tried to trade up for Sutton in the early 2nd, but since that predictably failed (the owner of the pick is a serial non-trader), I stayed put and grabbed Miller at 2.07.

Sutton, Miller and Moore were my top 3 WR, order varied depending on the day. If there was ever a year where the rookie WR tiers and ranks were up for grabs, it's this one.
35 Team Dyn PPR, 3 x Copy SF start 2TE Super Prem (TE 2 PPR, 8pt TD), 6 pt/non-TE TD, 1pt/20 yds pass (300 +3pt), 1pt/10 yds rush/rec (100 +3pt)

Start 12: 1QB 1SFLX 2RB 4WR 2TE 2FLX | 30 Active Roster, unlim Taxi, 3 IR/Out (+) | est. '21 | playoffs '21, '22

QB - J Allen, T Lawrence ...
RB - A Ekeler, S Barkley, J Cook, I Pacheco ...

In my experience Miller hype is already out of control, I'm not sure he's still cheap. Went after him in two leagues (inspired by this thread nonetheless), the owners respective asked for Arob + Corey Clement/Nick Chubb + 1st for Miller. Crazy.

Shame on me for bringing anecdotal evidence to an OP with so much research, but those prices really caught me off guard.

The earliest he has gone in my 3 leagues is 13 overall (I took him there for a salary cap league not in my sig).

Given that most people have Miller as the WR3 or WR4 in this class, it would be kind of foolish to “take him as the WR1” - that would require trading up to the 4th or 5th pick and then taking him.

I don’t think he’s worthy of a pick THAT high, he’s just the guy I like most out of the rookie WRs post-draft.

This. I traded down twice at got him with the 18th pick in our draft (2.02). He was the 6th WR off the board. Still feels like a steal to me.

I actually feel like I am pretty high on miller ranking him as my wr3 in this class but still managed not to get him anywhere as everywhere that I had a pick in that range my wr1 in the class, Sutton, was still on the board.

I had an early 2nd that I was thinking about Miller with, so I dove into the tape. I came away thinking he was a fine receiver, but not one I really cared to invest in. He deserves a role in the NFL, but I can't get on board with the hype here. He's not going to be special, and the WR1 valuations I'm seeing in this topic already are absurd. He's not the best receiver on his team, and I'm not confident in Trubisky being a noteworthy long-term asset (NFL or fantasy).

Interestingly enough, I see Miller and Trubisky in a similar light. I've had the opportunity to acquire both of them, so I dove into the tape and decided I didn't think either one of them was really worth buying into. They're both just average to me. I started out really liking both of them, too.

I'm fine with people having him as their top WR in this class just because it seems like a relatively weak class at first glance, but let's not get carried away. Miller could have a few good years if the targets are there (hence his early 2nd price tag), but I don't think he's near as good as he's being portrayed here.

I think this was a major factor. I think wr2 is far more likely. Part of the equation for me was who can boost their value fastest and from the looks of it, it has already happened.

I'm hoping for a good first year and I'll likely look to cash out high.

I was loving Miller as an early third round rookie pick back in Feb/March but things have gotten a bit crazy.
Give me Ridley, Sutton, Moore and James Washington all over Miller pretty easily. I don't really see the deal with Kirk but likely even him up with Miller

He went as the 4th WR in my league. I took him at 4 after all copies Moore, Ridley, & Sutton were taken.

League makeup & need dictate how players are taken in any draft. My league was RB weak for all teams, and this was a RB heavy draft, so I wasn't particularly worried about missing out on him. It's also a double-player roster, so if I missed the first copy of Miller, I could still jump in and draft the 2nd.

However, I still tried to trade up to the 16th spot to take Miller, then 17th, then 18th and so on. I owned the 25th pick, and as more selections went by, I started to realize that he was just going to fall to me and I'd be fine. I got him at 1.25 (aka 2.01 in a 12 team league with double copies), but I would have had no issues taking him as high as 16 (1.08).

I'm so confused. The guy catches anything near him and can change directions on a dime.

You're gonna miss out on this guy and come back to this post/thread kicking yourself...
