4 Year Outlook - DJ vs. Gurley

Postby SkillsPino » Thu Aug 02, 2018 9:38 am

In a Salary Cap Dynasty league (100M hard cap) and I am looking at throwing a big offer at either Todd Gurley or David Johnson. In our league, if you pay a player 10M+ per season you have to sign them to a 5-year deal. You can drop them in the final year of their contract, but you are on the hook with that player for 4 years.

Is Gurley a no-brainer over DJ? Rams offence looks pretty set for the next 3 years at least. Would love to hear some thoughts on this. Thanks.

I feel like the only argument you can make in DJ's favor is actual talent/ability (and even that is a subjective argument that could lean Gurley anyway). Everything else is easily in Gurley's favor at the moment - age, offensive players around him, coach, recency bias.

Absolutely love DJ, but Gurley is a much safer bet 3-4 years from now.

I'm going with DJ over the next 4 years. I believe he is head and shoulders a better receiver than Gurley. I think the lack of other options, especially when Fitz retires, will give DJ a large volume advantage over Gurley. I understand recency bias but DJ's 2016 season was better than Gurley's monster 2017 season. I think DJ will be the top fantasy scorer bar none over the next 4 years.

It's a wash in redraft over then next few seasons, but Gurley will be infinitely more valuable than DJ 4 years from now. Take which ever you can get for cheaper.

Like the both but Gurley is better. DJ will be easier to get IMO.

DJ is awesome, but Gurley is even better and younger and in a better offense. Close numbers next 2 or 3 years, edge to Gurley, but then years 4 and 5 it's landslide Gurley

I own DJ and would agree with this. I'd take Gurley easily, even at a (reasonably) higher salary.
