His career best YPA is 7.8; last year alone, 9 starting quarterbacks (not going to count Mahomes because it was one game) were more efficient.
Above is actually a very perceptive statement. I agree he was tracking early in the same mold as a M. Stafford type. That said, he never has had a line worth anything and had to throw on the run a ton.

In 2014 we began to see massive improvement much like Stafford also showed in his year 3. In 2016 Luck also played very good even though he was playing with an injured shoulder. Now that he has had surgery and it appears he will be at full strength going forward with an improving team, I believe it is only a matter of time before he is considered the heir apparent to the best of the best.

Yards Per attempt is an important stat but then again Tom Brady and Drew Brees shows us the most important stat is real effectiveness within a system. Brees career YPA is 7.6 and Tom Brady's career Y/A is 7.5.

I get that, but a few of the other top 5 guys are recovering from injury also. We don’t know how Watson and Wentz will come along and yet they are being ranked above Luck
. I guess with Luck it should be a top 5-7 ranking contingent on him being fully healed and back to normal. I can understand that and be on-board with that. Risk is the factor, you are correct there.
Yes, but ACL vs throwing shoulder is a bit different in perceived risk for most.
Ha ha... and perception is reality
How many QBs have came back from ACL tears vs being unable to throw for a year, to return to elite status? I don’t think it’s unfair to have some uncertainty there, especially if you were burned by him last year with continually being told, he’s fine, he will play, don’t worry.

It's interesting how people view football payers vs pretty fantasy sats. Take Luck vs Cousins or Stafford. Cousins and Stafford ae both average at best football players. Neither of them have ever won a playoff game or hardly ever had a good wining season. Luck, on the otherhand, would make any team he is on a competitive team capable of making and winning playoff games.

If Luck recovers, he will far outlast and outproduce ever single QB on this list throughout the remainder of his career. I can easily see Luck playing to age 40.

Luck is the top QB in dynasty football considering his releative young age compared to everyone else. Even considering his risk. There are plenty of other QBs who carry plenty of risk. Including the healthy Cousins, if he doesn't stop looking like crap in big games, he will be backup QB in a few years. He can no longer hide behind a "bad" Washington team any longer.

This entire above post is pretty silly and made me chuckle.

In redraft, I'm not taking him top 5 this year. Too much risk for that. Maybe if he's still around at 10th or 11th QB....

In a startup draft, I don't have a problem putting him in or near my top 5 - definitely top 10. He's still only 28 years old, and could still have a great career. Plus, I trust my ability to draft another decent QB, or trade for one if need be.

That being said - I would not pay top 5 or even top ten price for him right now. There is enough of a question mark right now, and I'd rather go for a more for sure thing health-wise if I'm looking for a starting QB. But if I can find an owner who is perhaps deep at QB who I can talk down a little......

He's easily in my top 5, probably my top 3 still.

I'll take Russ Wilson and Carson Wentz over him, but that's it. He's still got 5+ years if healthy. He's put up great numbers every year he's been well. All reports concerning him are overwhelmingly positive.

Is Luck top 5 right now? No, probably not. There's just too much "what if?" But a few weeks of 300 yards/2td games to start the season? I think his value bounces back to top 3 QB.

IMO Luck is not top 5 going into the year. You could make a case for top 10 for sure, but I would take Wilson, Brees, Rodgers, Watson, Wentz over Luck without blinking.

What's funny is that you apparently have no idea what Luck's regular season and post season win loss record is...on bad teams.

I can understand not having Luck too high for 2018, but he is still number 1, or top 3, dynasty QB. Not that Aaron Rodgers isn't better, but considering age, Id take Luck in dynasty.

You would take a 39 year old Brees over Luck? In dynasty?

I'd take Wentz so easily. Watson I'd probably take as well, but the amount of ACL tears concern me. Not as much as a major throwing shoulder injury, but Wentz is a no brainer for me. He was the MVP until he got hurt. He's younger, bigger, stronger, and on a team going in a better direction. He's legit.
