The Calm Before the Storm

Postby Cult of Dionysus » Mon Jul 23, 2018 9:11 am

Training camps start this week for most NFL teams, and we all know what that means. Injuries. Lots of ugly injuries that derail players, teams and fantasy prospects. Every year we see lots of bad things in the first couple of weeks of training camp. No one wants to see it happen, but it will, just the nature of the sport. And some of today's fantasy darlings will be tomorrow's IR designees, while back-ups become starters.

Let's all hope for a better (i.e. healthier) training camp season than last.

Also, who is holding back making some final 2018-focused moves until mid-August, just to see how the injury landscape pans out? I'm probably not the only one.

I'm usually holding up to November to make win-now move. It makes sense because :

1. I don't know for sure that my team will be competitive. (And if it can't get to the playoffs without trades, it can't win the ship, usually)
2. I don't like to shoot in the dark when i'm making a short-term move
3. Easier to buy useful players from underachieving teams in my leagues.
1. 14-teamer, .5 PPR, 2 Flex, 16 keepers
QB :Palmer, Bridgewater, RG3
RB : Gurley, Hyde, Yeldon, McKinnon
WR: Dez, Jeffery, Evans, Watkins, Marshall, Diggs, Sharpe
TE : Eifert, ASJ,
IDP : Mosley, Olegtree, Collins &Stuff

2. 12-teamer, standard, 6 PTD, full dynasty
QB: Rodgers, Bortles, Petty
RB : McCoy, Forsett, Spiller, Lewis, KRob, Ridley, Haynes
WR : Julio, AJ Green, Tate, Latimer, Lee
TE : Gronk , Hill, Chandler
