We see a lot of these in the off-season. Player loses weight to add speed and burst. Player gains weight to take the abuse of a long season.

The result is no change in valuation for me. Maybe a very slight downgrade in that it's admitting something isn't working from the previous year.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Mixon's BMI drops from 29.95 to 28.76... typically I like to see 30 for work horse backs. While I think he'll be better on the field, I up his injury concern. He may put up more points when healthy, but may be injured more often thus resulting in no change. Now if he is more elusive to the point where he's avoiding any big hits he may not get any injuries and then you'll see it as an overall positive. Between those two outcomes I'd say overall this is a good thing.

As a Mixon owner in a rebuild I’m very interested in this, I don’t know much about him bedsides the awful off field incident of course. So my question is, would anyone on here try to trade him for one of the rookies this year? (Aside from Barkley of course since we all know that answer)

Not surprised, I heard he dropped about 140 lbs one time in a split second. :nono:

Id rather have Mixon than any non-Barkley RB in this class.

He was already uber athletic, i don't think losing weight is going to do anything. Now if he was a bit out of shape last season and he's more in shape this season then maybe that is relevant.

This. I never looked at what Mixon was doing last year and thought, "If only he were a bit faster..."

I swear I read somewhere that Mixon checked into rookie mini camp over weight and Lewis publicly called him out on it.

Man, do not joke about that around this group. You will end up scolded and put right at the top of the Popcorn Thread. On a side note, was she really 140 El Bees? Thats getting a little on the hefty side, that only further impresses me on his power. Sarcasm aside, a weight drop for him is fairly irrelevant, as I agree with the points above.

This is usually a good thing for a RB, but Mixon's problems (as detailed in his on-field scouting report that everyone forgot to read because they were so busy debating about the punch) are with his vision and creativity at the line of scrimmage. His failure or success will be determined by whether he can improve in those areas, not whether or not he can get more athletic. His athleticism is already in the top 1%.
