Stats/Facts
Stats/Facts
So I thought it would be kinda cool to start a fun little topic of discussion. Just putting interesting stats about players/teams or anything anyone comes across that will help people in drafting or trading for players over similar players. For example I just traded away David Johnson for Gurley because I came across the following stat. Over the last 6 years 73.3% (22 out of 30) of the top 12 RBs came from a a top 12 offense. And only 3 became a top 6 RB. So with this logic I felt Gurley would be the safer play because he plays in a much better offense. For fun I am interested if anyone knows or came across any of these stats that are good to know. Please Share

Re: Stats/Facts
I’d like to know how there have only been 30 top 12 RB in the last 6 years. Seems to me like there should be 72.
Re: Stats/Facts
Sorry I totally butchered that so I am going to do the ol copy and paste from FantasyPros.com lol

Re: Stats/Facts
Some have Johnson as high as No. 1 in our consensus rankings, but I'd urge against drafting him with a top-three pick. Did you know that 73.3 percent (22-of-30) of top-six running backs over the last six years have come from top-12 scoring offenses? I'd argue that the Cardinals would likely be a bottom-10 scoring offense in 2018, and there's been just three running backs who have overcome that to become a top-six running back over the last six years. Johnson scored 20 touchdowns in his magical 2016 season, something that's not repeatable. It's also worth noting that since Week 6 of 2016, he's averaged just 3.63 yards per carry on 191 carries. He's still worth a mid-first-round pick, but I'd take someone in a better offense over him.

Re: Stats/Facts
I'm sure we've all heard this one, but I do my best to remind myself every draft season when the fever hits...
47.6% of 1st round picks will have a single top 12 QB/TE or top 24 RB/WR season in their careers. If you remove the "single" and require multiple career season top 12/24 performances respectively, that number drops to 30%. By the 3rd round you are looking a whopping 7% hit rate.
I've seen similar studdies across the fantasy landscape, and you may find a little variation based on sample pool and other variable, but the numbers rarely vary too much from this outcome. This particular one is from a 2017 Rotoworld article.
Makes using picks to acquire vets a little more attractive an option.

Re: Stats/Facts
I thought of that, but you also don’t have the same top 12 offenses each year. New year, new top 12 offenses and RBShoreline Steamers wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 4:02 pmMaybe some of the names repeated the feat more than once? Or several times perhaps...
Re: Stats/Facts
OP copy/pasted where he read/found this information. It's supposed to be top 6 RBs of the last 6 years (but even then it should be 36 and not 30 - maybe they meant top 5 RBs).Amoo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 4:27 pmI thought of that, but you also don’t have the same top 12 offenses each year. Re: Stats/Facts
He simply posted a stat/fact as suggested which cannot be argued. Everyone adds context and then their opinions from that.
I enjoy these exercises as MANY, myself included, get caught up with with too many assumptions on what we think will happen where we miss the forest for the trees. I've had more success keeping Occam's Razor principle in mind.

Re: Stats/Facts
For the fifth-straight season, Russell Wilson saw an increase in pass attempts.
League leaders in passing TDs, Receiving TDs and Rushing Yards were all low marks since '09, '06 and 1990 respectively.

100% of all big ADP risers were later round picks, and most of the big ADP fallers were early round picks.
