Reality: The speed of the NFL hits Barkley like a ton of bricks as he realizes continually bounces runs to the outside will not work in the NFL. He struggles to finish 2018 as an RB1 - most likely fringe or as an RB2 causing this community to go into a panic because a 21 year old rookie did not explode onto the scene and causing his consensus ranking to drop substantially - leaving those that paid top dollar frustrated as it would have been much easier to acquire him prior to 2019.
This is the one I was going to write about.
I wasn't going to write about it here...or for that matter comment on someone else's in this thread (was tempted to reply to the one about hope for Cleveland)...but I agree entirely with Phaded that this is a very likely outcome in 2018.

Jordan Howard can't catch = he's not a good fantasy RB in PPR. After a 300/1,400/12 season, people won't care that he can't catch.
Kittles Pox | Championships: 2015, 2017

Narrative: The RB has returned as the coveted Fantasy Football stud position.

Reality: It was short-lived. DJ, Bell are injured, Elliott beats a teenage boy, SaQuan ends up getting caught with a couple keys of coke. Gurley turns into the 2016 version as the Rams implode under the LA pressure in year 2. Only a few waiver wire satellite backs end up having value.
I've considered all the anti-narrative ideas possible and achievable, but this seems far from.
Yeah, you are probably right. Barkley seems more like the heroin type.

Narrative- putting aside Barkley, all the other big rookie RBs will be lead scorers in their backfield this year.

Reality- I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see the combo of - C. Thompson, C. Carson, P. Barber, D. Booker, C. Hyde, L. Blount, random Pats RB -outscore the combo of - Guice, Penny, RoJo, R. Freeman, Chubb, K. Johnson, and Sony.

This is a good one.

Narrative: Nick Chubb owns Cleveland.

Reality: Carlos Hyde stays healthy and outproduces Chubb, who battles typical rookie issues like injuries and earning PT from an awful head coach who can only look backwards, and Hyde significantly out touches and out produces Chubb posting a top 20 RB PPG season.

narrative - kirk cousins is the vikes real and fantasy savior ....
reality - he crumbles under the huge expectations proving he isn't ready for prime time ....... the vikes regress and all the vikes skill guys disappoint their owners and wreck fantasy hopes.
I like this take. Still lots of questions in Cousins' game, he's not the surefire franchise QB that so many think he is. I wouldn't be surprise if he struggled and had a Carr-esque season.

Narrative: Martavis Bryant is the WR3 on his team, and has a suspension looming.

Reality: He is the 1B in Oakland. Martavis' skill set is complementary to Cooper's and they end up being a good 1-2 combo. The suspension talk was from some mishandled paperwork and nothing ever happens. The reporter, it turns out, is in a dynasty league where he wanted to buy Martavis on the cheap and sacrificed some of his cred to get a guy he sees as a long term WR1.

Barkley could def happen. He hit a ton of home runs in college but did very little Frank Gore type work between the tackles.

Narrative- Cooper has elite skills who has struggled through injuries. He's young and he's still learning.

Fact- He'll get exposed as a slot-only Landry-wanabe. Coach Gruden isn't sold on Cooper and built in redundancies should he fail. Nelson will become the short/intermediate target while Bryant will strike deep in a traditional/throwback offense like Dallas has been operating. Switzer was brought in to cover the slot in case Cooper gets another bad case of the ouchies.

Relying on an aging WR, a pothead and an aging RB running behind an underperforming oline makes the entire offense dicey.
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

Narrative - Barkley is locked in as an elite RB.

Reality - Barkley is locked in as an elite RB. 8-)

In standard scoring, LeGarrette Blount was RB6 with 1,110 yards and 17 TDs in 2016.

I truly believe this will happen or something to that effect. I truly believe he isn't as good as people want him to be. He was an afterthought up until his final season. People were praising other backs way ahead of him.

spot on

Narrative: Allen Robinson had a fluky good year and is coming off an injury, he's a WR #2

Reality: that fluky good year was the year he wasn't awesome. He finishes top 5 PPR
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Yet another thread that can be clearly divided into two camps... those who have and those who do not. Lol

Seriously though, I'm diggin' this thread. Great topic idea.
