Very true!

Not as true... Cook's greatest asset is between the 20s; he is a poor TE in the red zone. Even when he went to GB, I didn't buy him as a fantasy TE for that reason.

I'm assuming this means those of us that were still holding out some kind of hope for Clive Walford can now move on and kick him to the curb?

As for Cook, blah. Every year it's the same kind of hype with him (except the hype weakens a bit more each season) and it never materializes into more than a couple big games each year. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me SIX OR SEVEN times, not only is it shame on me, it means I should have me head examined.

Won't be worth starting but is an improvement over Walford and gives Carr another red zone target (albeit a so-so one) in addition to Crabtree.

Still wish we landed Bennett.
I have finally calmed down enough to agree with your post. I am so over Jared Cook that I was      that the Raiders signed him. Now all I can do is hope you are right and this is a better football move than fantasy one. I'll live with Cook as a Raider if it means we get a Super Bowl shot.

Jared Cook Discussion

Postby Jcedwards » Wed Jun 13, 2018 12:43 pm

I know he doesn't hold a whole lot of value in dynasty, but should he be kept as a backup?

I can drop him and in return will get pick 4.04 in our rookie/ FA draft (3 round draft, but if I drop him I will have 5 open spots on my team and I already have 4 picks). We can only have 3 TE's rostered and I already have Eifert and Njoku. I'm planning on targeting Kittle or Burton, but that is no guarantee because I don't know if they will be available.

Is it a no brainer to drop him and pick up the 4.04? Even if I don't get Kittle or Burton, I can roll with those 2 going forward or pick up a rookie TE for depth.

He finished as the 12th ranked TE last year in PPR. That's with a hurt Carr. I know it's coach speak, but Gruden likes what he see so far from him. I know he's old, but he's younger than Olsen and Walker. He's a sneaky buy for me. In the one league I own him, I am holding.

kamihamster mentioned the fluff from Gruden that came out earlier today, which can't hurt even if it is coach speak. Aside from Cook's numbers last year which were serviceable, I'd also be leery of counting on Eifert since he's not even participating in this weeks mini-camp. Apparently he's still not right physically, and penciling him in as even your TE2 could be frustrate in 2018. They guy literally can't stay on the field.

Yea I think he is a sneaky hold for right now. Only problem is that I’m really looking at Kittle/ Burton, but of course, I can’t draft them if I already have 3 (won’t let you draft and then drop someone after draft).

I see. I was operating under the assumption that you could make such a move if a TE you liked better was available at your pick. Say, Kittle/Burton was there for you so you draft them and make Cook your drop. If you can't, that complicates things a bit.

I like Cook but I would risk losing him to transfer to Kittle or Burton

Yea I’m pretty sure that you can’t be at the roster max at the draft, so I would have to drop him before the draft, which does make it complicated. In addition to my 1st round, I have 2.04, 3.03, and 3.06. I’m pretty sure I could probably get 1 of them at 2.04, but I was thinking of trying to wait until 3.03

He's a strong hold for me. He has much more value remaining on your roster than what you'd get in a trade.

I actually thought that I would get more responses saying to drop him. Kinda surprised actually. He doesn’t have much value from a dynasty aspect, but he can be a good backup/ spot starter if needed.

As stated above, I really would like Kittle/ Burton for the long haul, but I feel as if I may have to use 2.04 on one of them to ensure I get one.
