Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
I have always been against team defense and kickers and finally did away with them in my leagues but I have started to gain interest in IDP. I really dislike the flukeness of defense and kickers and I am wondering if IDP is the same way . What are the pros and cons to having an idp league?

Re: Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
It's a challenge to get the right point balance. We use standard IDP and it basically leaves anything but linebackers as a waste of roster space. There's a little luck involved via big Int/Fumble returns and defensive TDs, but for the most part it's reasonable.
All I Der Is Win - 16 Team IDP League (Pass TD 6pts)
QB - Stafford, Stroud, Tune
RB - Swift, Hall, Penny, Bigsby, Ford
WR - Pittman, Olave, Di. Johnson, G. Wilson, J. Williams, Metchie, Robinson, M. Wilson
TE - Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
LB - Brooks, R. Smith, Phillips
DL - Crosby, Allen, Simmons
DB - D. James, Baker, Delpit
K - Just a stupid kicker

Re: Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
There’s a very fine line that is walked in an idp league between making them relevant versus broken. As generally there’s one player every year that blows everyone else away in terms of raw stats (in one league where O and D normally has balanced scoring at the top way best the next highest overall player by about 30% in his 20 sack campaign)
Generally a good setup is somethibg like
1dt
2de
3lb
2cb
2s
And a flex or two, scoring is entirely up to you.
Regarding flukiness players do come out of nowhere more often than offensive guys but generally DL is really stable and LB is kinda stable DB on the other habd is a crapshoot

Re: Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
I strongly prefer IDP.
* Getting scoring and starting reqs may take a little fine tuning as mentioned above
* You don't have teams being able to stream against weekly matchups which I prefer
* You enjoy watching more on both sides of the ball
* Typically, you will have more stat adjustments for IDPs than you do with offensive players... THIS IS VERY NOTEWORTHY as stats definitely change each Thursday monring on MFL unless you set them not to change
It's fun and it makes trading that much more interesting. I highly recommend IDP for all leagues.

Re: Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
You need to have at least 3-4 staters at each defensive position (assuming DB DL LB) to make them valuable, otherwise you can essentially get away with streaming which is the biggest con.
As mentioned above, scoring is hard to find a balance.
I also find myself enjoying football more now when I am forced to analyze defensive players.

There are cons????
But seriously since I started idp I'll never go back, it's alot of fun and you will have to up your waiver wire game as every year it changes outside of a few studs.
It will take more time out of your week though.

I'll second this. IDP is the only way to go, in my opinion.AussieMate wrote: ↑Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:49 pm There are cons????

Re: Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
I Love IDP. I've got teams that are IDP power full with a mediocre offensive and some that are more balanced, both can be competitive each year. With most of my leagues (16 plus team, single player pool) it allow's more ways to build/manage and play your team on a weekly basis. 16 team leagues with 40 man rosters, 17 starters, 10 teams can be competitive year after year, depending on the way they are build. I've taken free orphans (in money leagues) from last to first in less then 3 years. (their often free because they don't have any draft picks 1st year) By opening the door to a second set of players (idp) your given twice as many targets in the draft, and increased flexability in roster construction that i can't turn back from.

Re: Pros and Cons of IDP leagues
Echoing the above statements regarding fine tuning lineup requirements and scoring.
Pros: Are you kidding me?? More players to learn, more trades to make, more fun watching live games, I could do this all day...
Cons: There are none unless you secretly hate fantasy football.
Since I started with IDP leagues I just can't play in leagues without them. They just seem to lack depth and dimension. Like Fantasy Football with training wheels. Lol. (No offense to you offense only guys!) I've modified the leagues I am in that didn't incorporate them and the only league I am in without them is an old redraft. I won't even consider standard leagues startups anymore.
