At 29, he's older than I realized. He'll be 30 in November.

While Wilson is a better passer than Newton and most dual-threat QBs, in fantasy he's still relying on his feet enough that if I'm his dynasty owner I'd be looking to cash him in soon before he loses a step. Maybe not this year, but I wouldn't wait too long.

Something I've considered for my sig team. Not certain there's a QB a contending team can fairly target. Wentz could be ideal, Jimmy G and Watson have the age edge but sample size questions. Rodgers, Brady, Roethlisberger can keep up in points but lose in age. Luck has an abysmal floor, Ryan doesn't gain you in age.

Really, there's no QB with his floor, ceiling and age.

I'd be willing to take Jimmy, Watson, or Wentz with some plus.

Watson's owner might not budge, though, considering Watson's hype is through the roof at the moment and in some redraft he's already the overall QB1, or close to it. :|

To me he has the best combo of youth, proven production at a high level and foreseeable upside to go along with minimal injury concerns and doing all of that with a historically mediocre supporting cast. I mean other than beast mode his best offensive weapon has probably been baldwin who I like but isn’t elite
Carson Wentz is easily my QB1 in dynasty. Seattle has shown the desire to get back to running the ball, so I'll take Wentz and his MVP caliber season at 3 years younger, pesonally. I love Russ, but I'll take what Wentz did his first 2 seasons over that, you've got the youth and an elite ceiling. I think RW is elite, but Penny is a far superior back to anything they've had in a while, so I don' think Wilson's ceiling is yet to be hit, I think he is what he is at this point, which is elite. Top 3 QB for sure.

He’s done it with a fantastic defense and good team around him, he’s done it on a dumpster fire with no o line, no rb, and no defense

He’s been a QB 1 every year he’s been active playing but I don’t think he finishes as an ‘elite’ top 3 option this year unless Seattle upgrades their pass catchers.

Based on his age, rushing ability, and knack for not getting injured I put him as the #1 overall QB this year with top 5 potential for at least the next 3 years. I feel that his supporting cast will only get better (can't get much worst) and I think Brandon Marshall will make a big difference on this squad if he stays healthy.

Historically, rushing production has dropped off for QBs after 5 or 6 years. The exceptions were Vick (who had a year plus to recuperate in prison) and Newton, who is a human tank. I wouldn't say this makes me worry about Wilson, as he's a solid QB even without rushing, but it's something to consider.

If Baldwin is out is anyone concerned?

This was the point of my initial post. Not that Wilson 'wasn't a qb1' but that his situation was starting to rapidly crumble around him to the point he might not be a lock to finish top 5 at the position.

Baldwin being out isn't a concern for me right now personally. However your last point back in March was a very good one, about how Wilson would not have been anywhere near the QB1 if it weren't for all the 2nd-half comebacks they had to make. I feel like most people remember his good statlines, but I remember many emotional rollercoasters on my autumn Sundays cause it's be halftime and Russ would only have like 3.5 points lol.

It reminds me a lot of ARob's great 2015 season and how a lot of his numbers were boosted by 4th-quarter garbage time. The good difference about Wilson though, is that not a lot of these were "desperate comeback mode" or garbage time where the defenses are just giving up yards in prevent. The offense still had to earn those yards and points in most of their comebacks. At the end of the day, Wilson is still too talented to let the offense significantly crumble. And as someone else said, the Seahawks will likely find themselves in a lot of passing game scripts and high-scoring games because their defense should be the worst its been in his career.

Anyway, a lot of this is subjective, so that's just how I see it. Rarely is a player ever a safe bet to finish top 5 regardless of position, so I don't think we should knock him for that. Assuming full health, I feel like Rodgers and Wilson have by far the safest floors at QB this year. Maybe Wentz too if he can really show he's recovered. Top 5 is not a lock... but am I expecting it? Sure lol.

Simply taking the averages over the past 6 years, here's what you should expect:

472 Attempts / 3,696 Passing Yards / 546 Rushing Yards / 27 Passing TD's / 3 Rushing TD's

I own him in every league so maybe I'm bias, but that's pretty elite...and he's been doing it this whole time with subpar talent around him, nothing's changed. Although I can agree that his fantasy scoring can be frustrating at times because he'll blow up for 40+ points one week and then 15-17 the next. So I understand both sides of this argument.

For giggles, here's his point break down per week in the leagues where I own him:

9.90, 18.30, 44.25, 36.55, 16.50, Bye, 36.70, 49.60, 31.55, 24.80, 38.50, 29.90, 32.45, 33.55, 14.00, 18.55

He probably cost tons of people the championship with those last 2 weeks but he was rock solid in weeks 3, 4, 7-14.

I think with the offensive line coach change from Cable to Solari will help reshape for the better. Was Cable a bad coach? A bad fit? I don't know, but the change itself will help Wilson a lot.

With that and Wilson continual ability as a playmaker that he's shown year after year even with highly lacking RBs and WRs, I def think Wilson is still an elite QB1

If this turns out to be something structural, even just a "loose bodies" situation that requires a cleanup I'll be a little concerned. No Baldwin would really be no bueno. That would leave them with Lockett and a bunch of inexperience (or mediocrity) behind him.

I'm also curious, and maybe irrationally nervous about the type of offense the team wants to employ. When this team was at their best, they ran to set up the pass. Game script may not allow it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the plan is to tilt a little more run heavy to keep the defense off the field so they're not exposed. The line won't be as bad a last year, but it's a better run blocking than pass blocking unit as currently constructed.

If this comes to pass, Wilson's overall numbers might suffer a bit at the expense of the team hopefully finding more success. Yes, I think Wilson is still an elite talent, but he may not produce elite numbers as far a fantasy is concerned.
