Watkins has the 6th most guaranteed $ of all WRs, and one of the highest % of guaranteed money of non-Rookie WRs
It's be interesting if the contract is structured like McKinnon's- front-loaded on the money/guarantees, easy for the team to get out of after the first year, if they wish.

Well, 7mil cap hit if cut after 2019 season. Cutting after 2018 season seems would provide similar numbers-"$30M guaranteed (signing bonus + 2018 salary + $8.21M of 2019 salary)". So, unless I'm completely mis-reading it, the 2019 salary is guaranteed, but would save 3.7 mil off the 11.95mil salary if cut.

Hill by a lot. He's only going to get better. Not sure Watkins will.

Why wouldnt he? Is it due to age? I mean I know Watkins is younger than Hill but it is only by 3-4 months so I do not think it makes him too young to keep learning to improve his craft.

I take these numbers with a huge grain of salt. That contract is a reflection of the current state of the market more than the talent of the player. The NFL salary cap has been increasing by 8-10% every year, a bunch of the top WRs were already signed to long term contracts earlier, and there's younger guys still on their rookie contracts (OBJ, Tyreek, Diggs, Cooper, MT, etc.).

If we started from scratch and every WR in the league was signed to a brand new contract today, then Watkins' contract wouldn't look nearly as pretty.

If we're talking on the field, give me Hill pretty easily. I love his game and think it fits into the current style of the NFL really well.

As a person, though, I'd rather own the flat-earther (Sammy) over the guy who choked his pregnant girlfriend (Hill). I try not to be the morality police, but I'd rather just sell Hill at his current price.

Lol, ArrylT I think you messed up the ages somehwere, but I still agree with your point and think it's often overlooked by people who dismiss Sammy.

Sammy turns 25 in about a week (bday = 6/14/93), Tyreek turned 24 a few months ago (bday = 3/1/94). So that would make Tyreek younger than Sammy by 8-9 months. The takeaway I get from that though is that Sammy is still plenty young; you would think he is 27-28 the way people talk about him. Sure he's got extra mileage in his NFL career if you care about that with WRs, but anybody thinks Sammy can't improve by now should also hold the same opinion on players older than him like DeVante Parker, Josh Doctson, Sterling Shepard, Cameron Meredith, Kelvin Benjamin, Tyler Lockett, etc.

The fact of the matter is that there's a very short list of players who are both "better" AND younger than Sammy (and yes, Tyreek is presumably one of them).

Sammy = an above average JAG. He's never going to live up to his hype. If you're lucky he'll be a WR2 at some point in time. He's above average/good but will never be great.

Remember when Sammy was a "generational talent" and people were going out of their way to get him as a rookie? It was pretty common to see Watkins go in the 1st round of startups. Dynasty is a funny game.

Just one of the reasons why I'm trying to ditch that term.

Oh boy do I remember! In my one league i traded 1.07+1.08+2.07 for 1.01(Watkins). Everyone said how I got a steal! 1.07 became OBJ, 1.08 became Adams, 2.07 was Ka'Deem carey (some later picks ended up much better). Point is, dynasty is a funny game as Cameron pointed out, and there is a lot of luck involved.

I would much rather Hill for fantasy purposes, don't think Watkins will ever live up to his "potential"

This is a silly discussion. Watkins is a WR Hill is a utility player WR/RB/KO/PR. A dangerous weapon to be sure but not the same level of WR Watkins is imo. I don't understand what people are seeing when they say Sammy has lost a step or something...he was awesome with the Rams last year and always seemed to be wide open and in tight coverage on the goal line he was the go-to late in the year.

I highly doubt the Chiefs dumped the safe vet QB to go with the gunslinging sophmore and added a 16M/yr WR as a decoy. I am guessing the Chiefs realized their ST suffered when Hill wasn't returning and might let him spend more time back there. They couldn't do that when he was their top WR.
For me as a utility player and maybe even fantasy production (with returns) Hill has an edge. As a straight WR it is Sammy for me so if the league doesn't do return yards/TD's I'll take my chances with Sammy.

Maybe I just still am clutching the past but still not a very tough choice for me straight up in PPR leagues

Hill for sure but I wouldn't say it's "not close", so I voted for "Hill by a little".

I would not add more than either an early 2nd or a very late 1st (1.12 pretty much) on to Watkins to acquire Hill.
