Rookie RBs Taken Rounds 5-7 That Have 3 Down Back Potential
RARELY does a RB taken in rounds 5-7 become a 3 down back (recently, you could include the 4th round in there as well), but it does happen from time to time. So which rookie RBs from rounds 5-7 this year do you think can establish themselves as their team's lead horse?

jaylen samuels: He will not beat out Bell (Obviously), but while Bell is holding out, Samuels is with the team and if the Bell situation gets more south the Steelers may very well let him go and Samuels would then be the guy as early as 2019.

Jordan Wilkins (5th), Boston Scott (6th), Jaylen Samuels (5th), John Kelly (6th). That's all I can think of presently.
- Wilkins may not have the BMI to be a 3-down NFL RB, but the rest of his profile checks out for it.
- Scott's a midget but he is freaky strong and his BMI is north of 30; there's some MJD in his profile.
- Samuels athletically has all the traits of a pro 3-down RB. Now he just has to learn how to play RB. (lol)
- Kelly is a smaller version of Blount that can actually catch the ball well.
Obviously, Scott, Samuels, and Kelly have superstars sitting ahead of them on the depth-chart, so they'll need a lot of luck.

Shoot, forgot about Samuels for some reason, probably because he's so versatile that I don't always think of him as a RB.
Good pick there you all.

Bo Scarbrough could be if he wasn't so injury prone. But he's also not that elusive iyam.

And if he does become the 3 down back, then he's in a REALLY good spot. I don't think Bell produces the same numbers on another team, and while Samuels isn't the same talent that Le'Veon is, he'd still be Pitt's 3 Down RB. That's HUGE.

This reasoning is exactly why I think there is no better rookie draft dart throw than Samuels (Late 3rd on)turcorox911 wrote: ↑Sat May 26, 2018 8:13 pmAnd if he does become the 3 down back, then he's in a REALLY good spot. Jordan Wilkins (already posted my thoughts on him)
John Kelly (he's not one of my guys, but allegedly he's like, Superman)
Bo Scarborough (2.5 down potential, a la Jay Ajayi or Doug Martin, where they're not really GOOD on 3rd down but they don't kill you either)
Jaylen Samuels technically has a 3-down skillset, but he's just not enough of a runner IMO.

His subpar speed is evident on tape and I grade his vision below-average, but he's got some of the most important elements of an effective NFL lead-runner (power, pad-level, contact-balance, anger, courage).lukkynumber13 wrote: ↑Sat May 26, 2018 10:40 pm John Kelly (he's not one of my guys, but allegedly he's like, Superman)
I'm not at all sure a two-inch shorter, 25lbs lighter version of LeGarrette Blount is viable in the NFL, but that's what Kelly seems to be, plus passing-down skills Blount's never had.

This was my sweet spot to scoop rbs after the big 8 were gone. I don't see much difference between the likes of Ballage, Hines, etc. vs the guys mentioned above
