Forum Turnover

Just seems to me alot of the time it is the same old questions with different names. Not really a problem but not exactly a conversation or discussion that I need to engage in every year. Player evaluation is the thing that keeps fantasy fun and everyone does it differently. Unless I have something to add I don't think has been brought up I don't post.

2). The arguing. My goodness gracious did this get old. I got sick of everyone blasting one another over their opinion on players. I love when people have differing opinions than my own and I love when they present their reasoning for the way the feel. I love when my thought process is challenged by the case someone else presents. Imo, that is the sole reason for this DLF dynasty discussion sub forum.

Agree!! Pretty new to this forum ... I posted on Fanrasy Sharks for years ... got tired of mean spiritedness and snark ... if I want that I can watch the news or call my ex wife ... I like sharing thoughts and hearing others ... after 20 years averaging 12 teams a year and some as commissioner, I just like the fun ... sometimes I learn stuff ... if I help others that's great ... and if we can all make us laugh a bit, we can all enjoy a scotch and a cigar that much more. I’ve been here for about three years now. Over that span, this site has gone from an invaluable resource to merely a source of amusement. That’s not to say that these forums have gotten significantly worse. I’ve just gotten better. Haha. I feel a lot more comfortable trusting my own evaluations of players, trades, etc. than I did three years ago. I still enjoy reading the boards and chiming in with some advice or an opinion on a topic, but I no longer feel the need to poll DLF on every trade offer I receive or every draft pick I make.

My guess is that for a lot of people, once they reach that point where they’re comfortable with their own evaluations, these forums lose a lot of their utility. If you’re not naturally inclined to help/mentor others, there’s really not much reason to stick around here once you’ve mastered the dynasty basics.

Kinda wonder how the "gay" post was handled. I don't recall seeing any other posts of that nature from that user. If that was the first time, a warning via PM seems the better route over deleting an account. That said, there may have been one or several, there may have been a conversation, I don't know.

Maybe people stopped wanting to participate when the same poster littered the board with threads, and continually bumped them. Maybe, people are realizing their league mates frequent here more often, and their team sig gives them away.

I’m pretty new to this forums on Ff. However, I’ve been fairly active in other forums on other topics. Sometimes the “posting in forums” stage of a hobby just plain runs it’s course, IMO.

Fantastic point, and one that definitely applies to me. I don't have many hobbies, but when I start one I go full bore. Last March I started writing short stories, and went HARD in that arena. I would write 25-30 stories per month. I was barely ever on this forum, nor did I get on Fanspeak, or MFL to send offers, etc. I was all about writing.

Now that I feel I accomplished some goals in the writing arena, I'm back to my main love. IDP (and other aspects of) fantasy football

For me it's just the natural wax and wane of time and interests. I imagine if I plotted my forum activity over time, it would slightly resemble a sine wave. There are times when I just feel like posting a lot, and times when it doesn't cross my mind.

It's nothing in particular related to the forum. If trolls or disagreements or immaturity on the boards drive you away, I guess you must know the internet very well, or...?

I have a hard time identifying the basis for this turnover. Tucorex has only been here for a few weeks and Coogan has only been gone for a little while longer. Neither can be blamed for the turnover.

I don't know what Turcorox is up to on these forums but he is up to something shady.

I considered that. However, I haven’t noticed turcorox being a total jerk face to anybody yet. I don’t think the other guy would be able to behave himself if he were to show back up with an alias.
