Rookie Draft

Postby smoger45 » Thu May 17, 2018 7:25 am

I am in a 16 team dynasty league and for 15 years we have done our draft in a chat room mostly through aim but that is no longer an option. I have checked into MFL and dont want to put in all the info with the teams players, and some of the features are just not working like we need it to. Does anyone have an option so that we can make trades and live chat for the draft and have an easy way to keep track of players drafted. We are still using yahoo for our league and commish doesnt want to change it. I'm just trying to come up with a way to not have a slow draft through email.

Just my opinion but I had to install GroupMe because it was how my daughter's employer communicated her schedule. I've been using chat software for years and I cannot advocate for using it over a myriad of other options. How difficult can it be to code in the ability to click on a user's name in the group chat and send a PM? Incredibly frustrating.

If you're already all using Yahoo, why not use YIM?

That's exactly how GroupMe does work though. If I go into the league chat and click a user's avatar/image (which shows up next to every post they make), it brings me to a private message window for that user.

I use the app on iOS, so maybe other venues differ.

I use Android and I don't know if it's a configuration of the group or what but it doesn't work that way. Maybe you have to add them as individual contacts? All I know is I hate it and couldn't wait to get rid of it.

This sentence makes me feel old haha. GroupMe is a fine option, and WhatsApp is a good alternative as well.

We have our draft via email...where the email chain just announces picks and any trades...and then we all chat via text and/or GroupMe throughout the trade. Everyone is involved and then you have a nice, clean email chain with the picks.

We do a slow draft for free agents after the rookie draft through email but everyone has 24 hr to make a pick and the owner is responsible for contacting next man up. Its nice to have everyone involved all at one time and chatting with other owners after a few months hiatus. Best way to get some good trades in because after the draft its another few months before any activity. It is the only night commish allows trades until preseason starts. Kind of hard to do this through email.

i believe yahoo has fantasy football running for 2018 already. you can use groupme to chat, a google sheet to keep track of the draft, and have players added in yahoo

Also on android here, if you click on the person's picture and then on the message symbol it will take you to a private message.
