2018 Texegon Draft Season Grades

I am part of a 16 team PPR league that is full salary cap/contract. We started it in 2011 and it has grown into easily the best fantasy league I have ever been a part of.

We recently completed our Rookie Draft and I decided to write up analysis and draft grades for each owner. The owners in my league really enjoyed it so I thought I would share it here as well.

Grade Factors:
  • Trades 60 days prior to the draft
  • Value received in trade
  • Draft Picks
  • Value of pick, player upside and floor
  • How well trades and picks match your overall team strategy

Trades Completed:

Sent 1.07, 19 1st, 19 2nd and 19 3rd for Alshon Jeffrey and Brandin Cooks
Sent 1.09 for 1.16 and a 19 1st
Sent 1.16 and a 19 2nd for 1.12

Draft Picks:

1.01: Saquon Barkley
1.12: DJ Moore (I’m giving Best Pick to Moore, just cause 1.01 is obvious.)
3.14: Minkah Fitzpatrick (worst pick)
4.06: Shaquem Griffin

Overall Grade: A+

Trades: Wes started with 1.01 and 1.09 and ended with 1.01, 1.12 and a 2019 1st. These trades aren't crazy, they’re just really really good. Taking advantage of my need at QB and trading up to 12 was a smart move, and incredibly good value given Moore’s hype right now. He also traded 2 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd for Jeffrey and Cooks before the draft. I think that is probably a fair trade in a vacuum. Given that Wes is clearly a contender this tells me that he is in Win-Now Mode.

1st Round: Wes got the best prospect in years and managed to get the consensus WR1 at pick 12. This round could not have gone better for him. He got the best RB in the draft by a mile, then he got DJ Moore who’s ADP is 5-7 at pick 12. I am not as high on Moore as some other people, but the value at 12 is inarguable.

3rd and 4th: IDP fliers at this point in the draft are hard to evaluate. I’m not in love with these picks, but they're fine and they don’t detract from the great first round. Griffin is a great story and will be fun to root for at he very least.

Final Thoughts: It's easy to diminish this draft because Barkley was a no-brainer at 1.01, but that doesn't change the fact that he is arguably the best RB prospect in a decade. The hype train is off the rails, so just hope he can live up to it.

First time doing it and I really enjoyed it. Hoping to do maybe quarterly power rankings during the season and maybe do a "match of the week".
