WR2 In New Orleans

Postby polk_high_allstar » Fri May 11, 2018 3:46 pm

So who does everyone believe is the #2 guy in New Orleans behind Michael Thomas. With Ingram on the outside looking in for the first half of the season I'm predicting a huge year for Brees. We all know Kamara won't be able to pick up all the slack so feel one of these guys should have a big year.

Ted Ginn for 2018. He was a reliable target for Brees.

Smith is the longer term play though.

Cam Meredith is so underrated. He's shown big time potential and is a matchup nightmare with his size and athletism.

Ted Ginn is as replacement level as they come. He's Devery Henderson or Robert Meachem, except an older version. Cam Meredith has the potential to be Marques Colston imo.

Their TE is 85 years old and their between the tackles grinder RB is suspended. There's targets to be had.

My main worry, and it's a big one, is the knee. Them drafting a WR in the 3rd round was kind of annoying but I feel like if the knee is back to 100%, Cam Meredith will be hard to keep off the field with his ability and contract. His WR coach from his breakout season on the Bears is now on the saints, so combine that with Sean Payton and Drew Brees at QB, they'll get the most out of his potential I would think.

People have been saying that about Brees for years now, yet he still performs. Last year, they actually had a run game and defense so he didn't have to.

Meredith both short and long term. Chicago made a mistake letting him leave.

I still think it's Kamara. He finished with 100 targets in a year where the Saints played with a lot of positive game script. I think he's a good bet to retain that number especially with Ingram missing the first four games.

If it's not him, it's Meredith, who I think they'll run a lot in the slot.

Quote from an article on May 1.

“I’m excited to be out there in New Orleans,” Meredith said. “To be a part of the winning tradition, great fans, and great city. … C.J. [Johnson] was a big part of my success in Chicago. To be able to rejoin him in New Orleans and get back where we left off like nothing really happened [is important]. … I just feel like Coach Payton and the Saints have a plan for me coming in and they made that pretty clear. I’m excited to be a part of the offense and do what I can.”
