2019 NFL Draft Class

Postby jwall » Wed May 09, 2018 6:19 pm

I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed yet, as I am new to this forum and fairly new to dynasty football in general. I was wondering how the 2019 rookie draft class is looking, and how it compares to recent drafts? My league started last year, so rookie fever is at an all time high with these past two rookie classes. I have 3 2019 1st round picks, so I would love to capitalize on the rookie fever if this draft class is relatively weak and trade away my picks before my leaguemates begin researching the draft.

People seem to think it will be a really deep we class, though I am indifferent about it. I like Harry and a couple others for example, but I saw a mock where the Texas kid was a high draft pick and I didn't think he was anything that special. A lot changes in a year of college football though.

First draft in a while where there isn't a odds-on favorite to go 1.01...at least yet.

This year, Barkley was the call for a while.

Last year, Fournette was the call for a while.

Even Treadwell was the popular pick for a while in 2016

Ditto for Gurley/Cooper in 2015.

Next year? Who knows. AJ Brown is probably going to be a popular name coming off last season.

The 2018 class had both a lot of '17 guys that returned for their senior year and a ton of guys that declared as juniors. Even if all the juniors come out next year it will likely be a thin class. Some rising Seniors to watch: Damien Harris, Bryce Love, LJ Scott, Rodney Anderson, Stanley Morgan, Deebo Samuel, David Sills. My top player overall would be AJ Brown by a large margin

Rodney Anderson is not a senior though I am sure he will come out. He is my top back right now not the 1.01. Good list, like the Sills call.

What are some good websites to use with info on future draft classes?

I play in a few deep Devy leagues (college players drafted for development) and there are a few sites. DLF has one of the best rankings, Football guys is añother site I check out.

A lot of analysts are doing top 100 or top 150 lists right now.
Google 2019 college football top 100 or 150 and you will get a few good ones.

I like the WR's a lot. RB's aren't as deep, but a lot can change. I wasn't enamoured with this class, but the RB's were deep. WR class was pitiful this year. I think next year is the year we get some top end WR's we haven't seen in at least a few drafts.

That's what I've been hearing as well, though even that is being challenged by some.

I forget where I read it but they claimed 2019 would be one of the weakest drafts ever, which seems almost impossible, but there have been some real stinker drafts.

I hear its supposed to have the WRs the last couple drafts have been underwhelming with. I also hear it's in general a subpar class and that 20 is supposed to be a good one again

Pure speculation rumor overhearing and could be 100% off. I couldn't even name a player in the 19 or 20 classes besides Love, and only because he was supposed to come out this year and didn't

I pretty much agree with the consensus, looking like a pretty strong wr class if guys take the expected steps forward and then come out. I think I've seen 12-13 different wide receivers mocked into the 2019 NFL first round in various places (not 12-13 in the same mock, that would be insane, lol).

QB and RB seem like a strange groups next year, but a lot can change, guys can take big steps forward.

TE has some interesting names, but are not really blowing me away (I like Wilson, Fant has potential, will be interested to see if Kaden Smith develops more and becomes a bigger part of their offense . . . same for c.j. conrad). Again, a lot can change, in a year, haha.

WalterFootball has mocks 2 years out. You can also just find a HS recruiting service and google through all 5 star recruits for a basic look at a class

I'm going N'Keal Harry over Brown as of now, but they are both in my top tier. I think Brown is higher rated by consensus right now, but I am just projecting ahead. They are both big, physical receivers with some serious playmaking ability. Rodney Anderson is a beast and I believe McShay gave him a first round grade as of now, but I believe he will be a junior. Deebo may have come out last year had he not got hurt. Some Juniors to look out for are RB Travis Homer out of Miami. Great hands out of the backfield and tough, too for his size. He's got some serious burst. Parris Cambell out of Ohio St. is a serious playmaker in the making, too I think.

^ yeah I meant to change that to 4th year players, not seniors. I think I was too harsh on Harry as well. He reminds me of Josh Gordon in that he is good enough at the technical stuff and too good of an all-around physical specimen to fail, all at 20 years old.
