OBJ Discussion

Postby joeya2001 » Tue May 01, 2018 1:32 pm

What are everyone thought on OBJ production this season?

I have some concerns that we may not see OBJ's norm 1300, 90+, 10+

Reasons why

1.Addition of Barkley. the Giants don't have to pass the ball all the time anymore.
2. Beefing the O-Line, again more incentive to run.
3.Eli, he's older and showed signs he can connect deep the way he use to anymore, pas attempts are down the last 2 seasons in addition to completion % also took a 2PT hit.
4. More Weapons in the offense, Shepard will be back, Engram, Barkley.
5. OBJ coming of a Injury.

Im not saying he going to drop off the face of the earth, but anyone else think he could drop this year as being considered the #1 fantasy asset?

he may lose out on targets, but i think some of that will be offset by he'll get less coverage so his efficacy will go up. im not worried about the deep ball since he's used on quick short passes quite often. from what I read about his injury, it's a relatively easy one to come back from, so not worried too much about that, and it happened before he was 25 so the body heals better. I won't call him to be the #1 WR this year... but still see him top 3.

Early in Odell's career, he was the only offensive output. 11 vs Odell. emergence of sheppard, engram and a running game will open up the offense for odell. maybe less targets but a better completion rate. or....just maybe....as an owner....i'm just wishful thinking lol

What? AB does just fine with a stud RB and other receiving weapons. So does Julio. So do others. Having other weapons helps an elite WR like Odell more than anything else.

I have no idea what the ADP is right now, but I don't think Odell is unanimously the #1 dynasty asset right now. To me, having that title isn't that great anyway, because there's really only one way for your value to go.

He could absolutely see a drop in production and still post WR1 numbers.

I'd say Eli's line has gotten much better and he had no time the past few years at least. Everything about Eli and Odell's situation has the arrow pointing the right way. Will OBJ hit 1300 yards, I don't know, but I do know if he is healthy he will be one of the top 5 WRs by year end and could easily end up number 1 overall.

If anything, a better and more balanced Giants offense helps OBJ. Nuk has overtaken him as the #1 asset in my eyes, though.

12-team SF, PPR, TE premium, 0.25 PPCarry
1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1SF 4Flex
QB: Mahomes, Fields, Love
RB: Bijan, ETN, Pollard, Achane, Herbert
WR: Kupp, Hill, Metcalf, Ridley, Jeudy, D.J. M, Burks, Hollywood, Wan'Dale
TE: Kyle Pitts, Goedert

4. More Weapons in the offense, Shepard will be back, Engram, Barkley.
5. OBJ coming of a Injury.
1. Defenses can no longer double or triple cover OBJ all day long
2. Eli has more time to find odell, more time to make an accurate pass, odell has more time to develop his route
3. Giants as a whole have regressed, maybe due to management, maybe due to eli, we will see
4. See #1
5. Not a significant injury, broken leg sucks but its isnt like a torn ACL or MCL or PCL or Achilles. OBJ will be ready to go.
