2018 1st vs future 1st

Postby Pullo Vision » Sun Apr 29, 2018 8:40 pm

This isn't league specific except for it being a 12 team PPR-

1) How late a 1st would you accept for your random 2019 1st? If you didn't know when you'd draft next year (borderline playoff contender, let's say), would you give your 1st next year for 1.1 this year? 1.5? 1.9? How far back would you swap it one for one?

2) Similar question, except the future pick in question is projected to be late, with all the risk involved in that kind of projection. Obviously you'd give it for 1.1. How about 1.7, 1.10, even 1.12?

Curious how the perceived depth will play into this.
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

This year, with 8 strong RB options I would definitely take any of the top 8 picks for my future 1st. I would consider as low as 10 with Moore/Ridley also added to the mix.

Likewise in the other direction. Definitely wouldn't give a top 8 pick for a future 1st, might consider 9 or 10, would definitely give 11 or 12.

Before the draft i traded my 1.12 for a 2019 borderline playoff team.

And with this deep draft i will try do it with my 2.01 and 2.02 aswell.

I always try to move a 1.11 or 1.12 for a futures 1.st

The more I look at rookie rankings, the more this seems right. If we're talking on the clock, I might be willing to pay a future 1st for a later current, depending on how the draft plays out. If I'm trading blindly, that 8-10 range seems right.

I love picking up future 1sts.

Just traded my 1.11 for a future 1st. Other team looks good, but this is a tough, competitive league, and fantasy is such a fickle mistress, we really can't forecast much.

Lastly it's fun to be invested in one or more other teams.

I agree with all of this. Especially being invested in other teams in your league

If I can't get Johnson or Freeman at the 1.09 I'll be looking to trade it for a future 1st and future 2nd or current year 2nd. If I can pick up a current year 2nd and future 1st, that would be best since i feel like the 1.09 to 2.05 are all similar players, so I'd get a similary valued player plus a future first in a supposed WR stacked year.

Here is a funny example of something like this:
I sold my 1.10 last offseason for another guy's '18 1st. He went ahead and drafted Kareem Hunt at 1.10. I think I packaged his future pick (which became 1.07 this year) in a deal to buy Amari Cooper (who now has a lower ADP than Hunt).

You'll be fine. Cooper will have a career year in 2018. Probably hurt to watch that trade unfold last year but long ways to go.

This was for team in sig and you'll notice Cooper isn't on it. I ended up selling Cooper & Landry for Robinson & Watkins last offseason
