Nice. I think they are going to use the FB a lot more in their new offense, too, from what Carrol is saying. Penny ran a lot from the "I" in college, it's encouraging to see them transitioning their offense to a designed purpose, and drafting players to fit that.Bot101 wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 9:37 pm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3_igGTdiuQ
Same guy who was critical of the Seahawks drafting Penny in the 1st uploaded another video praising the Dissly pick. He should help the run game quite a bit.
Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?

Re: Wow, Penny to the Seahawks
I think the OLine is getting too much hate in this scenario.
A few things to consider:
1) Russell Wilson's style of play keeps the defense off balance and creates lanes.
2) The oline wasn't much worse last year, and even debate-ably the year prior. No matter who was trotted out at RB they produced, ranging from Christine Michael to Mike Davis.
3) Penny's skill set fits very well on this team, and he should have the most sustained success at RB that they've had since Lynch. IMO.
If this Oline was bad, and there wasn't a track record of RB success under similar circumstances paired with the type of QB they have I'd hate it too. But I think given this, the OLine is less of a factor, than would be traditionally.

Re: Wow, Penny to the Seahawks
He looks impressive. But my mind always goes back to:
1 Would he look remotely this good vs SEC defenses?
2 The defenders he trucks, jukes or outruns are backups or 3rd stringers in better conferences.
I cant not think those things when watching him is my only problem.

Yeah, a better CB (who is small) would know better than to take on Penny grill to grill. Just chop him low. It's why you wear a helmet and shoulder pads.

He looked good vs Stanford who was a top 20 team and in the Senior Bowl. He's good. He would still look good in the SEC, not 2200 rushing yards good, but he'd still be putting up numbers.Bot101 wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 8:31 amHe looks impressive. But my mind always goes back to:

Penny Weight Gain?
https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/sea ... nding-form
"He weighed in this week at 236, 236 pounds running like that and he can catch the football and all that as well," Carroll said. "He’s a really, really exciting addition to this club. Really exciting.”
Penny weighed in at 220lbs at the combine.... 16lbs in six months is somewhat concerning, no? Anyone see anything else on this?

Re: Penny Weight Gain?
If he really has gained 16lbs in a few months and Pete isn't just confused in his old age, then yeah, I consider that a bad thing. Speed-score is essential to Penny's profile, not power. If he gains weight, he probably loses some juice, and he's compromising the best trait in his profile.

Re: Penny Weight Gain?
He's probably been stress eating because he's worried about Chris Carson.
Re: Penny Weight Gain?
Somebody said it already, but all he really had was speed. I don’t care what any coach says, adding 16 pounds to somebody’s frame and only a few of months is an extremely negative thing, not positive. Pete Carroll is an idiot.
I was low on Penny already. This just pushes him down the list even further in my mind.

Re: Penny Weight Gain?
That was my original thought... could've been 226 but Pete doesn't know the difference. Just seeing if there have been any reporters commenting on itninotoreS wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:58 pm If he really has gained 16lbs in a few months and Pete isn't just confused in his old age, then yeah, I consider that a bad thing. Re: Penny Weight Gain?
He's not 236, no way. he looks the same as the combine. I think that's off. Carson has to weigh more than him, when you see them side by side. If Penny is 236, Carson is in the 240's.
