Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Well, the 1.01 in that league was clearly a genus.

Debatable.
Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
In a non ppr league it really is not debatable lol...sorry for taking the thread off the rails.
Getting back to the topic...I really do like Ridley here and it makes me feel better in leagues where I have picks in the 6-8 range.

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Since this thread is dying, I'll rekindle. The guy who drafted Bell has only made the playoffs once because Bell was such a problem in the locker room. so there.
Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Unless Julio pulls a Calvin, I don't think so. Julio can keep going until he's 35, if he has the will to. Andre Johnson was great in his prime, but he was never Julio.
Hopkins was solidly a mid 1st in his rookie-draft. Yes, Austin and C-Patt were right there too, and it wasn't uncommon for C-Patt and Austin to go ahead of Hopkins. Doesn't alter that Hopkins was highly regarded himself. Tape lovers easily preferred Hopkins to Austin and Patterson.

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
General response seems off to me. Ridley was always going to be a high-floor, early impact guy but this lowers his ceiling. ATL doesn't move the needle from where I had him pre-draft
Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
I like this more for Ryan than Ridley but it's a solid spot.

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Unless Sarkisian is going to change the offense, this isn't a great landing spot imo. The number two in the zone scheme they run does a lot of blocking and if he's relegated to being the slot guy, he won't see enough volume to be hugely relevant. Even when Ryan nearly put up 5,000 yards under Shanahan, the number two receiver wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire. This won't be Roddy v2.0 if that's the hope.

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Unless he's just utter trash against NFL press coverage, there is very little chance a 1st round pick with 6'1" height and 4.4 long-speed will be relegated to the slot, much less with Mohamed Sanu his competition for the snaps in 2-wide. And Sark used the WRs for blocking on the perimeter less than Shanahan did (which I think hurt the offense in '17, meh).ericanadian wrote: βFri Apr 27, 2018 2:47 pm The number two in the zone scheme they run does a lot of blocking and if he's relegated to being the slot guy

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Was higher than many on Ridley, not a huge fan of the landing spot short term. He's just a tool in the box, maybe a Taylor Gabriel level impact/production.
Longer term, though, I'm very curious if there's something going on with Julio. If Jones continues to be unable to produce across an entire season, if he continues to struggle with drops and red zone targets, I could see them moving on, so they can pay their so-called "franchise" QB and maintain their oline. If Ridley develops, they can avoid the situation Dallas has gotten into by cutting Dez and Witten retiring.

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Hmm. I think it's safe to project a Day 1 picked 6'1" receiver to be inherently more target friendly than an undrafted 5'8" receiver.
Good offenses want more than one playmaker on the WR depth-chart. Atlanta only had a journeyman and a bunch of a replacement-level talents behind Julio before yesterday. Drafting Ridley was need for Atlanta, pure and simple.Longer term, though, I'm very curious if there's something going on with Julio.

Comparing Ridley to Gabriel, really?Pullo Vision wrote: βFri Apr 27, 2018 6:15 pm Was higher than many on Ridley, not a huge fan of the landing spot short term. He's just a tool in the box, maybe a Taylor Gabriel level impact/production.

Never seen so much dislike on a forum for a WR who looked fantastic on the field in the SEC. Seems like everyone wants the next Julio or Calvin but forget how rare someone that size and talent is.
Calvin may never be a WR1 but he has the safest floor in this class behind Barkley. Seems like Ridley will be able to produce WR2 numbers from day 1 as a rookie with an aging Julio. What else could you possibly ask for?
Also, even if Ridley doesnβt have a great rookie year itβs a pretty safe bet that his value will still stay the same and most likely rise especially seeing how everyone values Corey Davis on here with 0 production thus far. People look so much into the combine and numbers nowadays itβs a joke.

Re: Love Ridley to the Falcons
Completely agree, Ridley and Gabriel don't have the same size or game, but I don't expect a high level of production from Ridley as the #3 WR. That was the only point, and that's coming from someone who liked him pre-draft. While I agree with you that Ridley helped fill a need, I'm trying to find some reason to expect/anticipate a greater role/production. While the Jones idea was probably nuts, them reevaluating Sanu's contract (or cutting him) seems more feasible.ninotoreS wrote: βFri Apr 27, 2018 6:35 pmHmm.
